I am not too sure we agree as much as we first thought though. Let me quote something I think I said a while back in another thread.

And yet my forum avitar appeared to be very relevant.

I feel I must apologize for my duplicity.

No apology necessary! My comments were rhetorical pondering more than anything. I didn't realize you has posted an opinion regrading the relevance of sub-ohming on a regulated device. I had mistakenly attributed the comment to another, who posted something similar on a noteworthy thread from last year.

It isn't that I am of the opinion that the act of sub-ohming with a regulated device is worth the effort, my point is to relevancy. If there are people using regulated devices to sub-ohm, then the matter is relevant, if only as a point for discussion.

Edit - Willa Holland with her squirrel cheeks was in that movie. I remember it vaguely. Is it worth me watching again?

Lol! I forgot you are a pup! I was referring to the 1971 film directed by Sam Peckinpah, starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George. Somehow I think a remake would be inferior. Be aware though, it is Peckinpah, so a certain level of violence is to be expected.

I've never seen the original Straw Dogs. Found the 1st 24mins on youtube and I have to say it is excellent. Without wanting to derail the thread further, I'll just say I will try to watch the rest. Don't tell my wife but Dustin looks positively dreamy in his large knit sweater.
Thanks.

Oh, and I understand the confusion regarding my thoughts on subohming being irrelevant on regulated devices. I believe it is a common point of view and I can see how one can be confused with anothers comments. You can tell which comments were mine because they start with

No they're not. Watts is the measurement of heat (some will counter and say joules).

You can't run around answering people the same answer with the question of how hot am I vaping at 4 volts when everyone uses different resistance in their atomizers. Regardless of what atomizer they have and it is set at 8 watts (example), it is 8 watts in relation to the resistance with the power (voltage) being applied.

Try vaping 4 volts on a 1.5ohm atomizer. (10.6 watts)
Try vaping 4 volts on a 2.0ohm atomizer. (8 watts)
Try vaping 4 volts on a 3.0ohm atomizer. (5.3 watts)

Tell me, are you satisfied with 4 volts on those 3 different resistance? Those are big differences to vapor production and quality of the vape.

They are not the same exact thing.

The convenience of setting a wattage is it performs and vapes at that watt (cold/hot). No matter what resistance the atomizer is. You will vape at the watts you set be it 8, 10, or 20, etc. With voltage you have to adjust to the resistance of the atomizer to get an optimal preferred vape.

watts = power (for example; 1 horsepower is about 746 watts [how many horsepower is 2000°C?])
kelvin, celcius, fahrenheit = temperature
big difference.

now if there was only one compound of coil wire at only one gauge thickness with one size air hole in all of vaping... AND everyone took the same time to take a toke at the same intensity... then watts would equal heat... because it would be the only variable that affected temperature.

for another example;
if i put one of my carto tanks on a provari p3 @ 20 watts it would scorch immediately
if i put my kayfun on a p3 @ 20 watts, i'd likely have a decent vape
if i put my rm2 on a p3 @ 20 watts, it wouldn't even make vapor

and just to be clear, setting watts is setting volts... except... the device reads the resistance and sets the voltage for you. it's still varying the voltage to achieve the end result... which may or may not be your desired vape depending on the coil in your topper of choice ATM.

EDIT: upon further reading, i almost feel i must apologize. i do want to make clear, i posted this with no other intentions further than clarity. not trying to continue an argument or feed the animosity. sorry if it doesn't come across that way.

I have the Provari Mini and I am very satisfied with the product. I will get the provari P3 because of:
1) the different extensions, allowing the use of different battery sizes (I like that feature because I will use the longer version when I go out for the day and will use the shorter one, lighter and less cumbersome, at home where I have replacement batteries at the ready);
2) the convenience of VW (in theory, VW is not necessary because you can get the power you want by adjusting the voltage, but VW avoids making the calculation of voltage needed to get to the wattage you want);
3) the improved display;
4) the increased flexibility in selecting coils of different resistance (being able to go as low as 0.7 ohm.

I estimate that the P3 has all the features and capabilities I need for the foreseable future. The other things are the sturdiness of Provari product and the warranty, the fact that it is manufactured in the U.S. ( I am Canadian but I still prefer something manufactured in North America as the U.S. is and will remain Canada's first trading partner) .

Is the Provari 3 already outdated? Certainly it is for some people who have needs that the Provari 3 will not satisfy. Will it be overpriced? Certainly it will be for people who do not want to pay a lot more for marginally higher quality and durability than what is offered by other similar products at a lower price point.

What I think is important in the vaping market is that we have choice. It is a great time to be a vaper

I'd really like one but I hear they'll be limited to B&M shops of which I dunno there are any that will carry it here in Orlando...

They'll be launched at B&M stores initially. Provape has already said they will open them to online sales at some point. But, if you go to Provape.com and Store Locator, I think you'll find there are plenty of stores in the Orlando area who sell Provari.

My go to B&M have 2 for beta testing. I spent about 15 minutes messing with it. I have to say the new OLED was the the best part. When I removed my Kayfun the entire 510 came off with it including the beauty ring. Didn't love all the tube connections to accommodate an 18650 battery.
Still all the same quality of a Provari. Being so accustomed to VV it wasn't drop dead. I have 2 minis. what am I missing ,not much
Will I buy it ? Yes. Because it's still it's a high quality made in the USA mod.
