I need to give a special thanks to Adrenalynn. She sent me a text the other night to let me know about this thread. Thank you, Beautiful!

I too am very sorry for your loss PawPaw. I hope your doing as well as can be expected. Hope the teeth aren't keepin' you up at night as well. You seem to have a very good attitude (and a whole heap of good friends here on the V4L subforum!!)

Dave

Thanks Dave. Mostly the surgeries have been a whole bunch of nothing, pain wise. The only ones that really bothered me involved bone grafts. Those hurt!

TIP: If you ever have to have dental bone grafts, DO NOT go find the videos online before the surgery. Luckily, I waited until after they were done. Watching the videos and knowing that was done to me literally made me sick to my stomach. 8-o

Dental Surgeries, too? Good Lord...Paw...can you tell me something good.

There has been far more good times than bad. For one thing, I've returned to an old hobby and it is my new passion. While I was away, I've acquired 4 new pistols and 2 new rifles. Oh, and if we ever meet somewhere, you can relax... you will be well protected.

What kind of guns Paw Paw sir if you don't mind my asking?

I don't mind at all, since I've posted them on another forum.

A Rock Island Armory 5" .45ACP 1911. I've had a couple of custom mods done to it, plus I have a Kimber 22LR conversion for it.
A Rock Island Armory 3.5" .45ACP 1911.
A Kimber Ultra CDP .45ACP 1911.
A Sig P238.
A Hi-Point 9mm carbine. My "coyote killer".
A Colt AR6520 with a Trijicon TA01 scope & RM04 red-dot.

I'm having fun with all of those!

Welcome back paw, as you can tell you were very much missed!
Wow that's a whole lotta of hardware. The only guns i ever shot was a 22 rifle and pistol and once my Dads 357 magnum that made me sit on the ground:oops:
Have fun!

Come on out to Texas & I'll fill in those deficiencies in your education!

If V4L ever has to go to war I do believe we are ready. Glad you're back Paw Paw sir.

Us Texans have to be ready to take back our republic... The Republic of Texas, that is!

Wow...That's awesome. I should come see you Paw...I could use your help.
Fire Arms were my father's passion (an Italian from NJ...who would have thought). When he died a few years back, I took his .45 with mother of pearl grips. Not to use, just purely for sentimental reasons. But I vowed I would get a more suitable piece for the range and start shooting...........So Far, it's never happened.

Addy, Thanks for contacting Paw so we could stop worrying about him!

[smooch], PawPaw!

That Kimber's a nice weapon - but I love the Sigs. P226 and P229 are my primaries (9mm and 40ACP)

You should check out the P229, CM, either in 9 or 40. Fits smaller hands well versus those big 45's. And you're welcome - but I was gettin' worried about him too, it'd been a ....'s age since I'd last heard from him!

PawPaw - is your Republic accepting applications for citizenship? I have a .50, if that helps with the necessary qualifications. And an M1 carbine. And a rem 700, McMillian A1. :D

I am well aware of Sigs. I have a P239 9mm that I bought the first or second year they came out. It's a sweet shooter and I'm not giving it up anytime soon. It and the CDP are my primaries. I was surprised to discover the CDP is slightly smaller and lighter than the p239.

The Rock Islands are for play. I bought the P238 to have a pocket pistol when a larger pistol won't do. Right now, I'm on a 1911 kick. It's simply amazing that a 100 year old design is still among the best fighting weapons in the world.

The Rock Islands are fine weapons too! I do love the Kimber and Sig though. Just a little elevated. Oh - and I was directing CM (Cat Mommy) to the P226 and 229, not you! I know you're obviously well aware of the Sig!

Is the grip dimension smaller on the CDP (diameter, I guess you'd say) than the 239? I admit my experience with the 45 handguns is all in full-frame 1911 autos. I competed with a GoldCup for awhile, and I have my Dad's Colt and Browning 1911's, but I have to rock my hand around to get the clip release or safety from the firing position, where I don't have to on the 226 or 229, so I'm a LOT slower to acquire a sight picture from the 45 full-frame than I am from the smaller 9's and 40's full-frame. And my hands are on the larger size, but my wrists are really small. The 45 just beats me up. ;)

But yes, the 1911 is one of the small handful of weapons that changed combat forever! Totally agreed! And don't forget the sub-guns in 45 - like the Tommy!

Aubergine - [smooch to you too! :) ]

The grip on the CDP is the same as any single-stack 1911. It's the same as an Officer's size pistol, 1 less round than a full-size.

The P239's grip might be a little smaller, but not by much. I have a set of CT Lasergrips on mine. They enlarge the grip just a bit (sort of like a set of Pachmyr grips would). Makes it just perfect for my hand.

I have to change my grip to hit the mag release on any pistol. I shortened my right thumb back when I was in high school. (I got lots of sympathy from the girls!)

I just realized I ignored your request for ROT citizenship. We're always looking for good folks and wimmen who love guns are especially welcome!

In fact, any of you folks who find yourselves in the Dallas area, give me a holler. I'll take ANY excuse to send some lead down range!
