Thank you all for some great insight. I am using the pre-made wires so on a double 3mm wick I can only get maybe 3 coils and I am using it with both SSGGTS and a LavaTube. Sometimes the pops are so loud and strong that I really feel the pressure in my mouth. I am going to make a new coil with my own wire and see if that is going to make a difference. I will keep in mind everything you all been kind enough to share. I will report back as soon as I have some time to play around with it. I know that it is an absolutely a great device but it takes some time mastering it.

It takes me about 5-30 minutes to break in a new coil depending on how much I vape it at first and how much I torch everything up. I torch my R wire and silica. I get them to glow. But if I rush it, I don't get full flavor right away.

That's a great point. That wick needs to turn orange all throughout (with a butane torch like a creme brûlée torch or over a gas stovetop not a bic) and you can use a regular bic lighter to make every section of the kanthal glow and the flavor appears to better at the outset. I personally can taste silica more than juice if I don't do this. Even then, half a tank of juice needs to be vaped until it starts kicking in. When it works, hits like a freight train and flavor can be overwhelming in a good way. Takes practice, for sure.

You don't NEED to. I just get a residual taste that slightly taints the juice some until its fully broken in. I do the same with wire. Pass a flame over R wire so it glows. I make 2-3 passes. I torch the silica so it glows a few seconds and keep going until the whole section has been done.
Many dint do either. I'm just sensitive and taste it.

Someone has probably asked this but I missed it. Does anyone use the Nextel ceramic? Is it better or worse then the silica wicks? Is the wick they sell at cov better then the other suppliers out there? I know lots of questions. I am using some 3mm that I got from silicawick.com rite now.

Yes, there are a lot of threads about Nextel XC-116, do search on this GG forum.

One tip. If you torch your premade wire, use a lighter instead and be careful to not stay over the joint too long. It will break there. I generally make my own but premades are reserved for the lazy days where I just don't feel like it.

Yea very good point. I keep mine under the blue flame for about 20 sec side to side. Never had a problem.

The penny makes a wonderful travel companion doesn't she? :)

Yes she does yankee, I love being able to put her in my pocket knowing she'll never leak a drop. I'm totally smitten with her, even bought a mod just for the penny alone. Yep, she gets her own dedicated throne to sit on top of.
