Hello, so I got my v3 but I'm having issues setting it up. I did my standard 28g 8 wrap micro coil which comes out to about .8ohm put it on the v3 but the ohm meter reads either --- or 2.5ohm and above...I took the whole thing apart, tightened everything down...still does the same thing...thanks for any info

happened to me and I used a tiny flat screwdriver to move coil slightly away from one post and remeasured.

I'm sorry but microcoils gives me better flavor. I don't care about vapors neither. But be sure when there is more vapor it means the amount of flavor particles is bigger which means better flavor. Unless of course your vapor comes from burning garbage on the coils :D

dont be sorry, if it works for you mate thats all that counts.

personally i can discern almost no difference in flavour, only that a microcoil empties a tank faster! i think flavour is dictated by the size of both airhole and chamber and where the coil is in relation to the air flow, afterall a coil is only the heating element, so for me low ohm coils/microcoils are simply hotter, which i can understand may change flavour in certain cases. However in my experience more and hotter vapour does not mean better or more flavour, it comes down to the density of vapour, not mass. like one pea tastes like ten peas!

Prior to the ithaka update and Penny V3 i struggled to get on with NR/R/NR because im a lazy MF! but the vape was always nice and thick and flavoursome.

Update on my experiences with the V3.

I've tried a standard coil over and over with silica and haven't had much luck with the wicking. Maybe i'm cutting it too short, maybe the nudging the coils to fit is causing them not to contact the wick...I'm not sure.

After the 3rd coil in a row that was either dry hits or flooding, I decided to try a micro coil (Which I've never made, btw) with cotton. It's working great so far. I haven't experienced any flooding or dry hits, and I don't need the liquid control wide open.

The only thing that's strange is, because I'm using NiChrome wire, the coil doesn't want to compress as much as a Kanthal coil, so there is a tiny gap between each wind. I don't know if that's still qualified as a micro coil, but it's working great over here...so far.

There is a guy in a German forum also with wicking problems. Either he gets gurgeling or dry hits... Till now I failed to help him.
I never had a problem with my new rebuildable parts and especially the Penelope V3 is what I love!

My favorite coil is made of two strands of AWG 27 NiCr, winded parallel to a microcoil - 6 wraps or so (two wires parallel) - this coil kicks ...! :) Tons of flavor, a decent throat hit and lots of heat is what I get here :)

Is that cotton? Also, I'm using 32 awg. A 8-10 wrap gives me about 1.8 ohms, which is perfectly fine for me, but that's just one coil.

I'd like to use Silica, since I've got like 90 feet of it next to me. Is silica just too slow, or will I have to figure out how to make a micro coil with silica?

Silica works fine but I prefer cotton using non micro coils. But silica is better for micro since micro coils are all around hotter and will more likely burn cotton. Micros can be done with cotton. But the cotton has to be replaced more often due to wear and tear and possible burning if it doesn't wick fast enough, or improper wicking. I suggest torching the silica before using. Don't torch the wire/coil its not recommended. But just the silica.

I'm so excited mine has just made it into the country... Will soon be in my hands! Huuuuuuuuuuuaaah!

The NO-NR option is a dream come true.

Just a few questions guys:

1. Has anyone tried a SS setup; a stainless wick, with a micro coil or ribbon wire, and cut at the edge of channels, as in Mr. Wrinkles Method; no wick sitting on channels, that is... If so, what are the results!? Cause it sounds to me it could work, out of recent pics and details...

2. How tight is the draw compared to PV1 and PV2?

Oh, and long ago I asked Imeo for the NO-NR Penny option, even when he would state that in his opinion there was no actual need, blah, blah, blah, but he sort of hinted at the option of making this eventually, and so he did. This was the atomizer of my dreams, seriously, and I had to have it..! So I said to myself... .... it, the Greek Master, as his motto reads, promised to satisfy every vaper out there, and I am one of them, so he shall make it, he shall make it... I kept repeating this to myself every day, for two months or so... Eventually it worked... So, my point here is that you should simply repeat your vaping needs over and over in your mind (once or twice a day could also help out saying this out loud, to your wife maybe...!?); repeating the mantra with true conviction, and as if you were sort of praying to IMEO in silence... Eventually he will deliver...!

My experience here confirms this, but the principles behind this sort of chamanistic technology have also been demonstrated -this is some serious scientific .... I think- and all of this is documented in a film called the secret, if memory serves...!

=)

Oh, and last but not least, I have also made a 18650 last twice as long with this secret technology .... once I was camping and didn't have a power supply near...! So try this trick cause it will pay off! Trust me! ;)
