I don't agree. I don't think anyone ought to come here (except SJ) and remove avatars or advocate for their removal. What would be next? Religious symbols? I'm kind of sick of everyone getting offended at things that don't pass the pc standard.

I am just wondering. Why is it that when someone makes a VALID statement, backs it with a viable excuse, someone jumps in and creates a "I can do anything I want...who the hell are you to tell me different" or "Im not cowering because it might offend" blah blah blah! I mean, really?
Boston G made a valid point... some avitars may 1. offend others, and 2. Give the anti's ammunition. End of point. Whats sooooo hard about just agreeing with it? When I made posts about my stance on public vaping and the smoking ban, my points were not invalid, but I was hit with a barrage of not so nice comments.
No one is telling anyone what to do. People make suggestions based on what they believe will keep this "war" peacable, and give less ammo to the other side. Then people reply as if the OP's are rallying to take away their rights. I dont get it. these are not personal attacks. Put your avitar back Sherid...next time Im parruzing the forum with my 4 year old daughter on my lap, I'll just have to explain an infant flipping us off when we come across yours. Not a big deal.
Boston George.... I get it. I also dont vape in non-smoking areas. Appearently that makes me a coward to some, as well as personally attacking the rights of others. Cant we take these posts for what they are?

Oh gosh. . . I am so bothered by this. Who the heck cares, really? If it bothers SJ, he'll take it down. Really. The OP made his opinion known, but the idea that we must take down anything offensive is so absolutely disgusting to me. I'm so tired of this whole PC thing, I can't even convey it enough.

There are so many things on here that is potentially offensive. Boston George is a guy with long hair. Offensive. You had that sneer in your old avatar. Offensive. I had Muhammed in my signature. Offensive. There are women with breasts. Offensive. Geesh. when does it stop? When we just have solid-colored squares? Then someone will say red is offensive.

I never have nor will tell anyone to change their avatar. Nor do I think people should be forced to change their avatar for ANY reason.

I thought as a group, it could be good to talk about the issue. But instead we got a firestorm of people acting like I just ...... on a coffee table in a Starbucks.

I liked the avatar of the kid giving the finger. I thought it was fine and still should be used.

I have no issue with offensive avatars but I love e-cigs and if I thought changing my avatar even had a slight chance of helping the cause I would do it instantly.

I agree with your first post, I agree with this post... wtf is so hard to understand about preventitive maintenance... think of it like an oil change you do it every 3-6 months if it needed it or not why because its good for your car itll last longer and run better.... well if we project ourselves to the public eye in a positive manner one where arguments like these are flavored for children and marketed to kids or teenagers or may endulge non smokers to start cause it looks cool wont be an issue... I on a daily basis want to beat the life out my neighbor for being a .....$$ but I dont do it... becuase his sorry ... isnt worth going to jail for... So bottom line you defensive people you internet rebels you online tuff guys who think a picture makes you online cool your wrong... the mature approach would be to look at the long run be a little less selfish and take a mature approach for the benefit of the whole... we want these to be legal stay legal and easily available... so if in the end your stubborn attitude helps the anti movement against us gain steam I will personally track you down and steal your PV's from you cause you dont deserve them...
