Perfume - Rose?

I have had the pinapple,butterscotch,coffee sampler flavors,dark choc and I havent had any problems at all.All in 24 mg.The package when opened from the mail always has a distinct odor,Its full of chemicals and flavorings and you can smell that.Im just not getting anything that tastes different or wrong.The butterscotch in 24 is wonderful!!!!!

They use hand washed plastic containers to hold the liquids during filling. I suspected there might have been soap residue left in them, and told them to rinse them more thoroughly and started spot checking them to make sure I didn't find any soap residue. I also got them to agree to upgrade to stainless steel containers and machine sanitizing them after Chinese New Year.

But it's a bit of a moot point, because it doesn't seem to have solved anything.

And if that had been the cause like I thought it was, it definitely should have affected everyone across the board. So, I'm wondering why this is only being noticed with our liquids. Or at least, why I can't find any mention of it in other KR8 retailers' forums. Yes, we put a lot of effort into getting exclusive flavors, but it's not like we've added any ingredients that others don't use. Or like we have some exclusive liquid manufacturer. Or like ours carts are handled differently than anyone else's by the factory. So why are we the only ones with these complaints?

I'm just getting really really frustrated, and am not sure how to solve this.

If I find that flavor again, I will take that to the liquid manufacturer and ask them about it, but before I left Chicago I tried several different flavors and strengths that others had complained about, and didn't detect anything. I've been vaping some of those carts tonight, and they taste fine. (For example, I thought I detected it in Lemon Meringue, but in hindsight, and further tasting, it was just lemon. )

I've been tasting every strength of every flavor that's been made since I've been here. And I've been vaping some of the new flavors that have been complained about, like Butterscotch, for my personal vaping without tasting anything. But I did taste it twice, once in 11mg MountDo, and once in another flavor which I can't recall off hand. And I rejected both of those and had all the carts remade. So I don't think it's imaginary.

Then again, maybe it is. I'm as susceptible as anyone else to the tricks the mind can play on us.

I just don't know.

Leaford, on 9/4/2009 (before I found v4l), I ordered an e9 kit with extra cartos (24mg) from e-cig.com

Those things had such a strong perfume taste I couldn't stand it and immediately gave up on that model.

I doubt that will help, but there it is.

Leaford - I think you made a very important point when you said some are just more sensitive to it. I wish I wasn't!!!

Thank you so much for working on this for us. I, for one, really appreciate it.

I have not had this issue from other vendors cartomizers BUT I haven't ordered many from other vendors. Only one or two flavors from others whereas I have ordered dozens from V4L. It might exist out there and I just haven't gotten the right flavors to pick up on it.

yep, most of those I received today taste perfumy and have a strong rose water scent! I'm rinsing them out now to try to get the scent to go away, I love roses but don't want to vape them, it's weird, I can even smell it on my fingers after handling them. (yes, I have an ultra sensitive smeller, which is mostly NOT a blessing, believe me!!!8-o!) I haven't noticed it in recent cartomizer orders from two other vendors..maybe it's in the label adhesive or something goofy like that! hope you solve the mystery

Well that's not even close to what I was thinking. I noticed they don't wear gloves so I was thinking it might actually be perfume somehow being transferred from their hands to the carto. It might be a crazy thought but it was the first thing that came to my mind since it doesn't appear to be happening with the juices.

That's something else I've been working on, and they are now wearing hats and gloves. Of course, it's still a work in progress; they're still waiting for the supply of face masks, the gloves are cotton, not disposable latex, and right now a lot of workers are cutting the fingers off. Leave it to the Chinese to so totally not get the concept. But I'm working on all of that.

I read somewhere that you had been having some email problems. I have tried emailing you about this issue and gotten no response. and got semi-flamed by one of your loyal (rabid) V4L supporters for saying in a post that I was looking for a new supplier of carts due to this perfume thing. I love my V4L vapes and I did love all the flavors too. But this just kinda scares me. My husband was a very heavy analog smoker and still has almost no sense of smell. And he could smell it as soon as we opened the box. I have also been rinsing them to re-use because lets face it...these things are expensive. But I do still have some Eggnog cartos that I would be happy to mail back to you if you would like to try them and see what you think.
Thank you for all your hard work. I do realise this is a new industry and we are all learning together. I look forward to trying your new VG carts.

oh btw....just an interesting aside....maybe not even relavent but...I just got an order of Halo. I ordered a bottle of Smooth8. They warn you right in the description that you should probably try the Freedom flavor first because the smooth8 has a very heavy what they call "ginger" undertone,taste and smell. Personally...it tastes and smells like flowers to me. Kind perfumey like we have been discussing. My husband hated it. I actually kinda like it and think it might grow on me the more I use it. But the point is that taste and smell were very very similair to what people here are complaining about. Mixed with the heavy tobacco flavor of the Halo it isn't so bad but with Eggnog....yuk!And if you look at some of the actual Chinese vendors you see them selling flavors like Rose,Jasmine and even Perfume. So who knows! As long as I know that it isn't a health issue I'll be happy. It may be weird but it's still smells a lot better than analogs!!!

UPDATE: I received a phone call yesterday regarding this issue. A satisfactory compromise was easily reached. Thank you Mark!!!

I would like to thank V4L for all they have done to support vaping and to help those of us who enjoy it. And I would also like to thank them for working as hard as they have been to make sure we are satisfied and getting the best product possible. There is no doubt in my mind that they will get to the bottom of this. (I'm sure it would be much easier if it didn't seem to be so sporadic!)

This is a great company with a strong social conscious. Wow - can't say that about many companies any more! I'm glad to have found them!

I have something to add to this. My last/recent order has some carts with rose/perfumey smell and/or taste. I ordered a Mixed Berry sampler pack and a box of Red Hot Candy (both 8mg). I had only tried/had the Blueberry flavor included in the Mixed Berry before. The rest of the flavors, including the RHC, I had not. All of the carts/flavors had the smell of rose or perfume, including all in the box of RHC. I tried all of the mixed berry flavors and only 1 of the RHC cartos. All had the funky flavors/perfume/rose flavor. I checked the bottoms of the carts to see the manu date to report it. None of them HAD a manu date on them. I checked ALL cartos even those RHC's I hadn't tried. I check my previous Blueberry carto (I liked this one - no smell or bad taste) it DID have a manu date - 01/2009. I had gotten it as a freebie in a previous order. I noticed earlier in a thread that someone else had received cartos without manu dates on them and they also were rosey/perfumey. Might this be the smoking gun? Cartos that don't have manu dates are defective?

I love all the mint/menthol flavors from V4L, but really like fruity flavors. Sadly, every fruit flavor I've ordered had such a strong flowery taste, I just can't hardly stand it.

Was heart broken that this had very little flavor and a medium flowery
taste compared to the other ones. Didn't taste anything like Mountain

Those are all the carts I've tried that had that strong flowery taste...every single fruit flavored one I've ordered was like this. And I refilled the strawberry one with juice I've ordered, but didn't wash out the cart so can't say if its the carts or not I'll rinse my strawberry cart out completely and try refilling it to see.

I love V4L but just haven't had any luck with any of the fruit flavors except for the freebie cherry 8mg cart that my friend got. So I just received a bottle of 18mg cherry and hopefully its good.

Hope this helps in determining the problem. Like I said, I love V4L and will continue ordering from you guys, but I still want some fruit flavors so might look around to get those sorts of flavors somewhere else until the flowery problems are solved.

Dark chocolate 18mg has a bad flowery taste. I also have red cow vg 18mg that started with a flowery taste but is clearing up.

I have yet to taste that flowery taste except perhaps slightly in a couple of white chocolate strawberry cartos, but I think that is just how the strawberry tastes to me. I've avoiding ordering anything strawberry because it's such an easy flavor to taste wrong and strawberries are one of my favorite fruits. I'm betting Leaford gets this figured out before too long!

I have the fruitbowl and didn't taste any flowery/perfumey tastes off mine, Ordered and received January 2010. I sometimes taste a sweet powdery taste but I think that's just me?
