LOL - Well, it doesn't really matter to me where it comes from as long as it is what it is supposed to be!

I really wanted the spin trick to work.... but maybe there was some seperation before the cartomizers will filled and I just happened to get several that were at the floral stage of liquid dispersment. That might be a contributing factor to the cinnamon vs. roll controversy as well. But this is all just conjector... I have NO facts to say any of this is actually happening.

In my thread stalking I have noticed that several people have commented that the issue seems to be a once in a while thing rather than an all the time thing. So I think I will wait a while and maybe try another box of one or two of the worst offenders.

I haven't gotten any bottled liquid from V4L yet. Maybe I should try that. Any suggestions?

I really want to like these flavors!!!

I haven't tried all those flavors posted, but have certainly noticed that perfumey taste as well. In some, like peach, it overpowers the peach flavor completely (at least to my taste buds lol).

On a different note, I tried tequila last night and almost thought I was getting a buz. :D Any chance there is some real alcohol in there?

Sorry, we can't directly say where our liquids are from, but if you hunt around you'll find it on the forums. Sorry to be all mysterioso...
Feel free to ignore this question if it's tricky, however your post made it sound like you actually are not allowed to say where your liquids are from, which is reinforced by saying we can find out if we search other sources (which implies they don't have the same restrictions, or choose to ignore them)

Are you actually forbidden by some regulation, being it supplier contract, forum rule, or similar from declaiming it?
Or is it (and this is what I had assumed) a V4L operating procedure, not quite a trade secret, but a gateway to them (i.e. If other suppliers knew for a fact where you get your liquids, they can use that knowledge to leverage out your flavour recipies from those companies)? A previous post about the holiday flavours (Which I have since seen the same named subset appear on other suppliers) implied that that kind of thing has gone on.

I've heard of this on and off over time, and I came to the conclusion it was either an environmental thing (diet, air breathed, that affected some tastes) or just individual taste specifics, as it has always seemed that if someone taster perfume in a flavour, they did so consistently, and others did not. (Well, I never heard further on those who tasted it and suspect they didn't re-order so perhaps 'consistently' is too strong a term for them)

I think your best approach here would be to save a brand new unused one of a subset of the cartomizers that you think are perfumey, and list them to V4L on your next order. I think they'd have 0 problems shipping you a sampler of a subset from the latest batch, and then you'd have 2 of each to confirm, without having to ask for a complete reorder (and possibly getting the exact same taste again)

Also, look over some of the tasting techniques to ensure your palette is clear (Oddly enough, I've heard ginger is a good palette cleanser, as is coffee, personally I can't see how either would work :p)
And perhaps a change in environment (do your tasting session somewhere with the cleanest air you can find - smells change flavours)

If you decide to try this route, I'd recommend calling/PMing/emailing Mark or Steve beforehand to clarify.

But as Mary Kay alluded to in one of her posts, are we TASTING this or as she says, smelling it?

Since I read her post, I tried this with many flavors. Take a hit and don't let the nose get involved. All I can detect is sweetness in my mouth. Until I exhale, I don't "taste" anything other than some sweet in the vapor on my tongue.

It is true also, what Adrenalynn posted somewhere that we only have the ability to taste sweet, bitter, sour and salt on our tongues.

Try this little experiment and let me know what happens.

I agree with Mary Kay that we are actually smelling the vapor, not tasting it. This would go a long way into answering why some "taste" or is it "smell" a perfumy essence to some of the juices.

If there are some floral essences included in some juices, it is practical to think that some people would be able to smell them more strongly than others.

So, is it smell or taste?

W Axl Rose & SR219 - The rose flavor that I am experiencing is really strong also. Really, really strong to the point that it can be very hard to find the intended flavor underneath it.

Try this little experiment and let me know what happens.

I did and ALL I that comes through is a weird soapy rose flavor! I completely lose the desired flavor. LOL

Rose has been in most of the fruit flavors I've tried.

I've noticed that also. It seems that it is mostly the fruit flavors that are impacted.

I do keep a bottle of Cortas Rose Water next to my bed to add to my tap water.

When I was little my great-grandmother used to make all kinds of desserts and confections flavored with rose water.... I had forgotten about that!

DaShiVa - you brought up some great points and suggestions! I think I will set a couple of these aside and maybe try to compare them to 'new' ones in a week or two. Thanks for the idea.

:)

I find that some of the cartomizers, the ones that taste perfume-like, seem to have a rose oil or rose water kind of flavor and aroma. When I get past that I can taste more of the flavor that I expect. I don't know if it is because I get used to the rose flavor (kind of like getting used to the sound of nearby trains or traffic) or if it actually disappears. Or maybe I'm just overly sensitive to it...

In any case , while I love the fragrance of roses, I don't like the taste. I have only noticed this flavor in the V4L cartomizers.

Don't get me wrong! I love V4L... but I do find the periodic overwhelming rose (assuming that is what it is) annoying.

Does anyone else think it might be a rose flavor?

It's not just you! The other night when I was trying a few of the flavours, I noticed it as well. I would have just said floral, but rose is definitely the over-riding flavour... Hopefully it was only a bad batch and it'll get fixed? Have you tried contacting V4L about it?
