Over the several months that I have been around here I occasionally stumble across a post saying that you can buy PG or VG in a pharmacy, drug store, walmart, target, etc. Where exactly do you find these products (I know numerous online sites sell them) but is it really that readily available and I'm just clueless what to look for or ask for when in a store?

I can imagine a pharmacy knowing what you are talking about....they may question why...but is a Walmart or Target person going to know what PG or VG is? Do I need to give full name (can't recall off hand what abbreviations stand for) instead of just the "what isle is the PG in or the VG in"?

Reason I ask is that I am looking into DIY and also maybe just diluting some of my 24-30 mg nic juices as I think I'm ready for the 18-24 stage.

Wal-Mart has it as Humco Glycerin. Looks like this.

Humco Glycerin USP 6 oz - Pharmapacks

I found it over close to the Band-Aids. Other people have found it near hand lotions. If you can’t find it, make someone LOOK IT UP. They have no clue what it is and will just say they don’t carry it. It costs less than $4 there.

For VG you can get it at walmart in the first aid section. I used a bottle of this when I fist started DIY and its as good as any VG i have ordered online. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Humco-Glycerin-USP-Skin-Protectant-6-oz/10417582

For PG the only place I could find locally that would sell it to me was a Tractor Supply Company store, sold by the gallon. I just couldn't bring myself to vape something meant to be fed to livestock.

Honestly, you're better off ordering it online if you need more than a small supply. All Walmart sells is the smaller 6 oz bottle and they don't sell PG. Some have said Walgreens and CVS can order PG for you, but you'll have to play the lotion game.

If you head over to Essential Depot, you can find some pretty cheap PG/VG and if you're up for buying a gallon of each, you can pick up 1 gallon of PG and 1 gallon of VG for $55 and shipping is free. You may not use that much in a month (I know I don't), but shipping on that much would normally run you $15-$20 elsewhere and you can store the rest in a cool dark area.

So I assume that would be in there pharmacy section? That covers a lot of space but I guess I'll randomly search around there until someone asks me what I'm looking for. Do I ask for "Humco Glycerin" and is that the PG or VG version? Can I get both at Walmart?

Oh, you can get PG at Tractor Supply, it’s USP grade and used in cattle. Sold by the gallon at about $20.

“Ideal Animal Health Propylene Glycol is for use as an aid in prevention and treatment of Ketosis (Acetonemia). Complicating conditions such as milk fever, mastitis or metritis must be treated separately. Ketosis is associated with one or more of these conditions. This product may be used in conjunction with medication intended for treatment of those conditions. Mix with feed or use as a drench. Use as a preventative or as a treatment.”

Ideal Animal Health Propylene Glyco, 1 gal. - Tractor Supply Co.

If you haven’t done DIY you’re probably better off buying some juice in your regular flavors at a lower mg or 0mg and diluting down. Good luck. :)

hmm so this stuff isn't readily available in stores. You need to ask them to order it? If that's the case I'll just do it online. From some of the posts I thought this was common stuff that you could just pick up about anywhere but in 50 years or grocery shopping have never run across it?

Well I think 6 oz would do me...not in the DIY game yet just looking to dilute some preexisting liquids and maybe add more flavor. A gallon seems like a hell of a lot. Maybe if I make move to DIY a gallon will be reasonable but that still seems extreme.

I buy PG/VG in bulk just because of the free shipping and reduced cost. It is quite a bit to use, but when you DIY, it's really not that much at all when you account for mixes that just don't turn out the way you hoped they would :).

Of the two gallons I bought for $55, I have about 3/4 of them left after about a month, so these should last me another 3 months if I mix at the current rate or 1.5-2 if I step it up a little.

I normally mix 5-10ml bottles w/o Nicotine (since it's the most expensive component), so you can imagine the number of bottles I've vaped and tossed. They aren't all winners, but once you get "the one" (or "the ten") flavor(s) you like, it's smooth sailing until you want to try yet another potential mix.

If you are looking to reduce your 24mg juices, why not just order lower nic versions of the same juice and mix them? I'm doing that with 8mg and 16mg in equal parts to achieve 12mg juice now. My local vendor doesn't stock 12mg. Some people vape plain old PG or VG with nic added, but you have to deal with the hazards of a bottle of plain nicotine in your home.

Then there are those who order Dekang Tobacco and add their own flavorings. At $10.99 for 50ml it's a good price for a nic base to flavor up to your own recipe.

That's probably what I'll end up doing just buying something with lower nic. I just thought I would ask since I've seen posts about people picking up PG/VG at grocery stores, walmart, pharmacy, etc...I just figured it was readily available but I just didn't know what I was looking for.

Either that or I'll order online and get into the DIY which I've been debating for months.

Or you could just buy the VG at Wal Mart and use that to dilute, without any PG added. It would change your PG/VG ratio, but unless high PG is important to you, that shouldn't be a big deal, right?

That was my original question ;) Where do you find it. So far I've heard near the band-aids or near the lotion. I just wasn't sure where or what to look for. I'll probably just have to ask a clerk and get a dumb-founded look.

So Wal Mart only sells VG but not PG?

You will find your VG-Vegetable Glycerin on the same isle as band-aids and such. You are looking for a small clear bottle that says Humco brand GLYCERIN USP Skin Protectant. 6fl oz (177ml). I don't think wal-mart sells PG- Propylene Glycol But you may be able to have your pharmacist get it for you. It is easier for me to just order it online.

I had never notice it before starting this smoke free journey. :D
