Juice Components
Flavoring usually 10%
PG enhances TH, lung hit and flavor- water like
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- very thick
Nicotine= TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine- Is the most important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Many, including myself, believe PG is not TH but a mild irritant. Some also have an allergy/ sensitivity to PG so they vape 100% VG or add PGA or distilled water to thin it out so the thick VG will wick better. Standard ratios are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG. I vape 60/ 40.

Im still kinda confused on what each , purpose is in the e-juice. From what i understand the pg provides throat hit and vg the vapor ? doesn't the strength of the nicotine deliver the throat hit ?
what is the difference of a juice that has more of pg than vg and vice versa ?
Yep. You're right.
PG = throat hit
VG = vapor
Nicotine = throat hit
Some folks have sensitivity to too much PG so they are the ones who vape 100% vg or just a higher percentage of vg to pg ratio
Me? I don't know what I like best yet. I started out 100% vg because I didn't know if I would have a sensitivity to the pg. I have slowly been ordering juices with a little more pg each time. Seems to be workin out so far.
Welcome to ECF. We're glad you're here.

There appears to be some confusion over whether PG provides some throat hit or not.
There are many that say it doesn't, only nicotine does, and that VG acts to suppress that throat hit while PG does not.

My understanding is that PG is an irritant to the throat, and I personally believe it provides some measure of throat hit.
I wish this could be settled once and for all though.

From my own experience, pg does provide "some" TH. I can't vape 100% vg due to it being too smooth even at the same mg nic strength.

PG does not give throat hit, it allows the nicotine to give the throat hit by not masking it. PG can be harsher and dry you out more so people think its throat hit. Also, dont confuse the warmth of the vapor with throat hit.

as a rule:

Nicotine creates throat hit. Minty flavors will also help "hit" the throat.
PG allows the TH and flavor to come through
PG is thinner viscosity and easier on the atty and cartos.
PG is easier to wick

VG is thicker and sweet.
VG will clog you cartos faster and is harder to wick
VG mutes flavor and throat hit.
VG provides more clouds of vapor.

I have found that a ratio of between 70%pg/30%vg and 50/50 is perfect. I usually use 70/30. It allows the flavor to come through but still gives me the vapor I want. I personally need the higher pg content for throat hit because I only use 6mg nic
If I used a higher nic, I could go 50/50. I also use clearomizes and want the juice to wick well without dry hits.

Also, the vaping device itself has nothing to do with throat hit. Different voltage devices will give you warmer or cooler vapor, but not more or less throat hit.

being new this post is exactly what i wanted, cheers for being very helpful.. i have been using 70/30 and recently 50/50 so far liking both but, from reading your post i can spot the differences :)

Yes I have. It doesn't bother me, but for some people, it's a little harsh. I actually use some of smokeless image Flavors and they are 90%pg.

I like more pg because I use a Lower nic and i like a lot of flavor
Not sure if I was clear, but I meant straight PG as in zero nicotine, zero VG, and zero flavor.

I've heard a lot of speculation about what PG does and does not do to your throat.
What I haven't heard is any input from anyone who has ever vaped it straight.
:)

I read a post suggesting some people use PGA. Although I'm sure it's discussed in many other posts on the forum, I would not recommend it to an early vaper simply because you need to make sure the source of the PGA has proper quality control...

PGA can contain some nasty chemicals if it's not properly manufactured so most young vapers should stay clear unless it's nice and pure... That being said, the flavouring falls in the same category, in some cases it can also contain so bad stuff. I recommend to stay clear from cheap asian sourced juices..
