Hi all,

I know that this has been discussed on this site before, but I did some quick research and found some data relating to the toxicity of propylene glycol (PG) and polyethylene glycol (PEG). Both are used as a base in e-liquids to produce the 'smoke' like effect. I'll try to find data on vegetable glycerin soon...

Comparing the LD50 for rabbits by oral administration of both substances, one can see that the PEG is theoretically less toxic, or 'safer'.

PG administered orally, rabbit - LD50 = 18 500 mg/kg
PEG administered orally, rabbit - LD50 = 26 800 mg/kg

*LD50 means the amount/dose administered which causes 50% of the test population to die.

I thought that this data might be of interest, as I recall some people saying that they will never touch PEG based e-liquids.
