Hey all. I got my e-Power almost 4 weeks ago, and I'm relatively happy with it. But, after reading all the glowing things people have written about vaping on this fine forum, I'm sure that my experience could be much, much better. My main "problems" are throat hit (too much) and vapor (not enough).

From what I understand, VG produces less TH and more vapor (but less flavor, which doesn't concern me at the moment). Now, I assume that if I try some juice with VG, maybe 50/50 PG/VG, I'll get closer to what I'm looking for. Right now I'm vaping 100% PG; the TH is quite a bit more than I'm looking for (but not overpowering), but there's like no vapor! After watching YouTube vids, I was expecting massive clouds of vapor and I'm getting nothing! Now, this shouldn't be a big deal, I guess, and it sounds kind of silly to say it, but I want those massive clouds! I assume that it's the 100% PG that's to blame for the lack of vapor, but I guess it could be my vaping technique, too (I get some vapor sometimes, but not much and not often).

I also read somewhere that higher nicotine content will give bigger throat hit. I've been vaping 18mg and 12mg (two different sample packs). I actually prefer the taste of the 18mg (tobacco flavors), and haven't noticed a difference in TH between the two. But could lower nicotine content help lower the TH?

I also read somewhere that VG doesn't play well with cartos. I've been using cartos since I started, and they work well for me so I'd like to continue using them. Would high VG juice be a problem with them?

Also, most of the juices I've tried have a seriously nasty chemical taste to them (the 12mg nic sweet "bakery" flavors are really bad). This is a big turn off, as I'm sure you can imagine. I assume this is due to the vendor/maker/whatever, so I'll purchase from a different vendor next time. Is a chemical taste a common thing that I'll just have to get used to (God I hope not!), or did I maybe get bad batches, or is it equipment, or what?

Thank you for taking the time to read through this and answer my n00b questions; I appreciate it! I really want vaping to work for me and help me finally kick the coffin nails. I think that it will work, I just need to perfect my system. Help me, ECF, you're my only hope!:)

In regards to the throat hit and pg/vg and nic here goes my attempt at an explanation. Nic level has a lot to do with throat hit and PG helps emphasize TH and flavor while VG mutes or smooths over the TH and flavor. I vape at around 80pg/20vg 18mg nic and get plenty of vapor even when I used my ego 650mah and a dct 1.5ohm carto tank setup. VG is thicker than PG but it should work fine in a cartomizer as long as when you fill it you give it time to absorb and then top off if need be.

As far as the chemical taste I have been lucky to not experience that, but have read enough to know that this can happen at times if a juice needs to steep. You may want to try another vendor if you feel that the juice has settled for long enough and still has that flavor. I'm sure someone will chime in with some insight into this as well.

Another thing that can reduce throat hit and vapor production (on a constant voltage device like the e-power) is getting a higher resistance cartomizer, not sure if that's what you want to do just FYI. I hope this helps some.

The EPower is a solid PV.
Nicotine= TH, Lung Hit and our need for the nicotine
PG= enhances TH and flavor
VG= vapor

I use a 3.7 PV and 1.7 SmokTech XL cartos with 60/ 40 PG/ VG and have no problems. Now am using a tank with carto.

Some juices require steeping- what tastes absolutely horrible can taste wonderful after steeping. Also vaping is extremely dehydrating and dehydration can impact the vaping experience. I drink 1 1/2 litres water per day.
Good Luck.

My research on ECF indicated as much - that's why I bought one! :2cool:

I believe the e-Power is a 3.7, yes? I'm using 2.0 Boge cartos (I think that's what they are, anyway). I assume they are similar to yours, and that a 50/50 mix would work okay. I'll try it and see what happens.

Steeping is letting it sit for awhile, correct? I'll have to go back and try the ones I didn't like (they've been hanging around for awhile). Also, I believe I'm drinking plenty of liquids, but I might need to drink more, so I'll take that into consideration.

Thank you so much for your advice, Vapoor eyes er!

Welcome to ECF! I am also extremely picky about liquids and gross chemically tastes. I would recommend spending a bit more and getting quality organic juice. My favorite vendors are Virgin Vapor, Vaperite, and Velvet Vapors. You probably do need the juices to steep unless you get a sampler pack.
