Ok. About an hour has gone by. My fingers bleed.....
Took a #500 mesh, a tad over 80mm/3 inches. Quick Jack Frost torch. Made it go orange, NOT RED. Rolled it tight. I mean TIGHT. No hole in the middle. Torch/quench 3x the top 1/3 or so (that sticks above the tank and has the coils). Torch/quench 1x the rest. Wrapped a 7/6 using 28 AWG resulting in 1ohm. I added a few drops of juice (wife's chocolate altoid peppermint) to give it a go). It seems like it's staying wet and vape ready.
Currently breaking it in at 2.9V

Yankee,
I think up to this point you and I have gotten along pretty well. In fact I would venture as far as to say that we are forum friends. Unfortunately I am afraid after this last post of yours, this may have come to an end. Right here and right now I am going to tell you and all of ECF why in 2 simple words.

GO SOX !!

:)

Hmmm I think maybe someone should just pull out the good stuff from that thread and post it here :p

In a nut shell they say to use 500 mesh rolled so tight that there is no air hole in the middle, damn near solid piece of mesh and fat so it fits tight in the wick hole. I haven't tried this yet on my knockoff DID because I don't have any 500 mesh yet but I will be trying it with some 400.

Pressure issue, maybe the reason for the hole in the wick?

Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

If there is a hole in the center of the wick it will fill with juice, which will stop any air from escaping anyway. The fill hole must be open to equalize the tank.

But if you roll the wick as tight as they say in that monster 500 mesh thread, there is no hole in the wick. And if you plug the wick hole tight with mesh where are you going to get any air? I don't think the tiny hole in the cap would be enough. I'm talking about the knockoff DID but I think it would be the same problem with the Cobra.

Guys this airhole thing is where the flavor comes from. The smaller the hole the more flavor. Be very carefull opening that hole up. Obviously you can never go back. Plus good luck drilling titanium. I'm not being a smart ..., there is a reason they make drill bits out of it.
Try to get used to long slow draws. Give it a few days.

The wick has nothing to do with airflow. The air hole in the top cap is the only source of air. The air circulates around the chamber drawing the vapor off the wick. The less actual air the better. You want to be vaping vapor not air, that is why the draw is so tight.

The fill hole helps displace the juice. Period. And when this wick is as tight as this, it just won't wick.
And kwalka, no way am I changing this one. Titanium is not something you will take a hand drill to. The flavor is amazing. Absolutely. The TH is low, but it's not fully broken in so I'm letting it ride.
I will state that I have a genny with a 1.5 mm air hole and it has flavor and intense across the board.

However, this cobra is miles better than it was yesterday on this closed wick.

Ok, I get it. So now I'm anxious to try the really, really, really tight mesh. :D

Now you're getting it. If you don't do a tight wick, you can cheat by using the screw in the fill hole. Because you get the air around the wick.
Take a can of broth and punch one hole. Now pour. It struggles to release the broth. No room for sir displacement. Same here.

Did you watch the video I linked to earlier? I agree 100% about the fill hole, it needs to be open to equalize the tank, or it wont wick. I'm not sure I'm following you, your saying because your wick is so tight, its not wicking?
