I just haven't found the right wick configuration for optimal wicking. No way I chain vape this as is. Just running through some different wicks over the next few days.

Everybody watch this. This is the master BJ43, he is the one who does the capillary action experiments. This is #500 mesh rolled so tight there is no airhole in the center. He told me the airhole in the center inhibits wicking.

That's what I was looking for. I know what I'll be doing tonight. Thanks for the link. I knew there was one out there with great detail.

How big of a mesh did you cut to fit the cobra hole?

I received my Cobra 3 days after the sale (what an ordeal that was LOL) and fitted a 325 jack frost wick with 32 awg Kanthal & 5/4 wrap. I was not impressed with the vapor production so I then made a wick using the 400 mesh that came with the Cobra, no Jack frost just rolled it on a paper clip (mesh size 40mm x 50mm wide) then after oxidating it i rolled it up as tight as i could until it fit in the wick hole. I also used the drill bit method to wrap another 5/4 coil with 32 awg Kanthal. Again the vape was not what I expected but decided to let my setup break in. About half way through a full tank I started to get more flavor & clouds of steam! So I think I'm going to pick up some 500 mesh for the next time I rebuild & see what happens. For now though i am going to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Thanks Moo. (BTW using a Bolt/AW IMR 18350 battery)

I'm hoping #500 mesh co-op goes live soon it a good price $6 and some change for a 12x12 sheet I put myself down for 5 sheets that should last for a while, right now I'm using 400

I usually order it right from the UK. Fast shipping.

I think if all goes well, I'm trying a tight 500 on my cobra tonight. Hmm. We shall see. This wicking as is does not keep up with when i chain vape.

I chain vape a lot. Let me know how it works and the size you cut for it. I'm betting I get my mesh from the same place too.

Lots of gold in there, or I wouldn't take the time. I'm basically starting from zero, so I have a lot to learn. Currently on #681 of #1474 posts.:p:vapor:

It'll be worth it if the Cobra delivers...Flavor! Vapor! Convenience!

I'm a greedy gal.

Hmmm I think maybe someone should just pull out the good stuff from that thread and post it here :p

a genesis atty is worth the frustration and the learning curve because once you get the coil right it's the best vape you can get (IMO) and after you get coiling mastered making a new coil only takes a few seconds. My only complaint about them is they don't travel well because they are leaky, my only complaint about the cobra is that the air and wick hole are so small. and i think they are kind of pricey

One of the reasons the price is what it is, would be the fact it is Titanium. I do not know the details of how and where Siam machines, but I do know we explored doing our SS caps in titanium instead and the price from several different machine shops made it impossible for us to do. But based on the pricing we got for titanium caps and what is involved in machining the Cobra.... The price is really where it should be! We couldn't not have had it machined here for any where near that price! Titanium is not only more expensive but harder to work with!

This is so true. The Cobra is a bargain! Titanium and pyrex glass, this is the ultimate. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

I'm hoping to just combine a few different methods I used before into one kick a** vape experience. I know what I'm doing tonight. Well....in between the 2-3 kids we get on Halloween.

Although it looks like Foggy will be able to offer clif notes. :)

That's the SS version of the tip Phiniac sells.

I wasn't implying that you are over charging for it or that I'm not happy with or that I doubt it's worth but considering that the provari that it's sitting on was only $7 more than the tank I was just saying that it's an expensive tank I wasn't trying to offend anybody

Absolutely no offense was taken. I've just had this conversation a couple of times and each time I have people have either not known it was titanium or did not take that fact into consideration. I was just explaining why I believe they are priced at the price they are! Who knows, I could be wrong. I do not think I am as I have priced titanium machining before, but I could be. Your original post as well as this one were very valid posts!

Ok. About an hour has gone by. My fingers bleed.....
Took a #500 mesh, a tad over 80mm/3 inches. Quick Jack Frost torch. Made it go orange, NOT RED. Rolled it tight. I mean TIGHT. No hole in the middle. Torch/quench 3x the top 1/3 or so (that sticks above the tank and has the coils). Torch/quench 1x the rest. Wrapped a 7/6 using 28 AWG resulting in 1ohm. I added a few drops of juice (wife's chocolate altoid peppermint) to give it a go). It seems like it's staying wet and vape ready.
Currently breaking it in at 2.9V
