Ok. VERY impressive wicking AG on this modified Petar K. Used the small paper clip (despite me thinking against it), torched, rolled and torched again. I actually ended up having to torch twice. Resolved all hotspots by just rotating the wick and sliding it up and down a bit. Rinse, lather, repeat. 1.5 ohms on a mech mod. I've been chain vaping this for 15 minutes and can't get a dry hit yet (knock on wood). And I'm vaping it vertical.

My friend, I am impressed. Now. Of course I'm debating trying the cobra tonight. :)
Maybe a shortcut on the cobra? How much do you roll for that one?

I use a 40mm h X 45mm w piece of 400 wrapped around the skinny paperclip.

I'm glad it's working for you. :)

I used to use a larger center channel, tried no center channel, and settled on the smaller one.
It allows for the wick to act like a straw, so liquid can flow freely down the center of it.
If it gets a little dry, a quick tip, and liquid is right at the coil.

I'm actually "flooding" it.
It wicks better without the air hole toward you. Ok. A direction change it is.

How is 28 gauge working for you guys? It seems to me that I can't get enough air to get ultimate performance. I am going back to 32 when my 30 comes in.

I haven't used 28awg on it. I think 30 or 32 are the optimum for the Cobra, based on the space available for the coil.

I prefer 28g on my gennies. What I'm talking about is a DID. That's the setup I've been discussing. BUT.....on the cobra, I think 32 may be the option. Maybe 30. There just isn't enough room for 28 on the smaller wick.

If there's a will there's always room, hehe. Actually, I'm using 28 gauge at 1.3 ohms. I think I've posted a pic previously? I'll post again. 28 gauge in the ZAP is freaking great with the airy draw but not so much with Cobra. :( I am also running 28 on my DID and it's meh.

Thanks guys, that solves that mystery for me. I wasn't sure whether the top leg was a short or something else when the leg got hot but not the wrap itself.

Not sure, but I've had it happen before. All it takes sometimes is a miniscule change in the position of either wick or coil to make your setup good/bad, so probably something shifted just right and started to short

Because when the coil gets hot the wires will move. As Killjoy stated, it doesn't take much sometimes.

When i get home next week, I'll need all your tips n tricks... I'm bound to get this cobra working right for me. That's if you don't mind helping out a RBA noob :(

Plenty of help available....at least until moo shuts this thread down temporarily. But I believe it'll be available in read only mode for the 2-3 weeks or so until it reopens.

I'll have one for you by the end of the weekend. I did it on the show last week, but the recording function wasn't working.

Yes, if I do close the thread which I might not, it will still be readable and I will re-open as soon as both contests are done.

I'm also hoping that I can twist AlmightyGod's arm to allow us to use his how to video on the site.

And if I twist really hard maybe he will write up a step by step tutorial for our site as well with only the most basic tips and tricks included for those of us, including myself, who do not want to tinker and just want to get our cobras (or other rba's) up and running. I know the forum is a wonderful for information and this thread alone has had a ton of it. But sometimes it is hard to weed through the questions and answers that do not apply to our situation and the other chatter. And it seems that AlmightyGod is truly AlmightyGod on this subject :p I'd be happy to repay the time spent with an awesome sandblasted cobra tank :p

My dear....

If you think the video is good enough to use on your site, then by all means...you have my blessing. I'm not doing this for any kind of compensation. It's all for the love of the Cobra, and to help my fellow vapers get the enjoyment from it that I get. I will be sure to be on my best instructional behavior when I make it. I'll give all of the tips I can think of giving. I will definitely keep it as simple as possible. I'm not making the video for the pros. It's going to be for the new user to get it up and running. :)
