Wow, you guys were busy while I was in the shower. Which by the way I was able to do with out help, so that is big progress, just looking forward to being able to put my shoes on with out help.

Being only 4' tall, your hands should be almost touching your feet. Oops, sorry. That would make you an ape.

You did say derailing was fun.

Yes, I have some 36ga and have tried it in my Penny but didn't have enough room to reach 3 ohms. I'm going to try again though and try to get the coils closer.

Use the 36g, wrap them really close, almost touch. Make sure the joint on the ceramic side goes in the channel, not in the cup. That will actually gain you space for 1-2 wraps. Also, try the one-legged approach. I use this method on my ody. One joint outside the ceramic in the ceramic channel, then just keep wrapping close, almost tight, and keep going until you run out if room, then just make the turn with the R wire down the metal channel of the Penelope. Once it hits the metal channel, it'll ground and resistance will stop.

I do it that way with joint in the groove but I only use 1 NR wire. Maybe that's what you are saying.

Are you trying to confuse me?

Haha!

Twisting two wires together will lower the resistance.

Example:
Twisting 2 strands of 36awg wire together will in effect give you a piece of 30awg wire, which is lower in resistance.

Twisting 2 strands of 34awg wire together will give you the same resistance as a single strand of 28awg wire.

And so on...

Yeah. That's exactly what I'm saying. So if you continue that approach, wrap tight and close as AG suggested, shove the coils in there and use that 36, you'll get there. If you cross, you may lose some flavor production, but it'll register.

I can use 33g and wrap tightly with two joints in an iAtty cup and attain a 1.8-2.0 ohms. And if you've seen an iAtty cup, you say "3.0 will happen".

So if twisting a wire gives you lower ohms, how do you get higher ohms. I'm assuming using a different gauge of wire does the trick but what gauge would give higher ohms. When I get my cobra back I would like to shoot for around 2ohms.

I think it comes with 32awg, so a 5/4 wrap should net you around 2.2ohms.

I don't have a clue how you came up with those numbers but that is useful. I have some 34ga that I don't use and not much 28ga which I want. So now I know how to use up my 34ga. Thanks.

30 gives you higher than 28g. 32 higher than 30. 34 higher than 32. Keep climbing.
I usually use 30 on cobra with no kick. This 32 is working nicely tho. On my DIDs and AC9s, I stay with 28 more often than not because those flavors fair well with 1.0-1.5ohms. And I have room to wrap. Cobra only offers half the height to the top. DIDs and ac9 go more like 80-90% of the height.

Search for Wire Gauge Chart on Wiki.

Two strands of 34awg are the same diameter as one strand of 28awg.

I have read quite a bit of AG's posts. His experience with these rebuildables is unreal. The numbers add up but only when you read other threads and tune out what hasn't worked for you. If you believe inside that what's not working MUST somehow work, you force it all. Trust the real life numbers and what ends up working for you.

AG, don't mean to talk about you like you're not in the room. :)

I appreciate the kind words my friend.
I hope I keep it real for everyone. My goal is for everyone who wants to learn to get the correct information in a way that makes sense. :)

Actually thank you. I know I've seen info on devices I didn't own, but the approach is honestly the same across the board especially when all of the last 20-30 posts are applied.

As a side note, I am glad I'm not the only one "not understanding the hype" about the solid. I never found the flavor OR wicking the same. That center channel always always made the flavor shine that much more. With that said though, I don't do much to the bottom 2/3 of the wick. It's a quick Jack Frost and that's it for that section. Top 1/3 I still quench, but once. Sometimes twice if i get off readings or flavor. But that's where I personally struggled with shorts.
