It's actually supposed to be a tattoo of a tree but I don't see it lol. I'm just thinking that people get tribal tattoos because they aren't really committed to using a single image that's associated with something so they go with something that is more neutral, which leads me to believe that neutral designs would appeal to a broader range of clientele :)

Plus, people can google tribal designs and send them to you correct? They may need a little tweeking, but you will do sandblast requests?

Yes, we will be taking requests. But not everything can be done in sandblasting so we need to see your request before we say yes or no. Further these tanks are REALLY tiny. We already have at least one design that is just to tiny for the regular sized tank and will only be done on the Tallboy and the XL!

This is what I posted a few days ago, with some slight changes!

Well, when you come up with something let us know!

This is how it is going to work. We are going to start with 12 - 17 stock designs that will be regularly available on the website. We will not however be blasting them until they ordered so sand blasted tanks will take a minimum of 1 full day after order to 4 days after order to ship. More then one or two days is unlikely but better to quote a worst case scenario.

Each week we will be adding a new stock design. If you want to make a custom request that is not yet part of our stock designs, there will be 2 ways to do so.

1. The first is to shoot us an email or post a request here and if the design sounds doable and like something others would like we will put it on the list for upcoming weekly stock designs added.

2. However if you are impatient or requesting something that is personal, that you want to keep uniquely to yourself or we feel the rest of the community will not be interested there will be a $5 fee and once you have approved the design it will be made the following day and NOT duplicated for others. If you would like to add it to the stock designs, we will if we feel it is something that will appeal to the community.

Some of the stock designs will accommodate initials that can be added, you may add up to 2 initials and each character will cost an additional .75 cents.

Finally, for the name tanks, you can use up to 8 letters. Each letter will be an additional .75 cents just like the initials. On the name tanks, if you are using 7 or 6 (not sure which yet, need to do more testing) letters or less, you will have the option to add a graphic. They will include things like stars, little peace signs, music notes, butterfly, a wolf, flowers etc and will be charged as an additional letter. Depending on the letters and spacing we will pick the placement of the additional graphic and if the layout allows we will add more then one (ie: two or three stars) etc.

We will also have several fonts to choose from!

So that is it!

Yes, but a tatto is forever, hence the possibility of wanting something neutral. A tank however is less personal, not put on your body for the rest of your life, so you can commit to something on a tank that you wouldn't want on your body forever!

True but some people only plan to buy one tank, something they won't mind walking around with for the life of the tank, which could be quite long!

Edit: I guess it don't matter... That type of person will likely make certain to find an image he/she is happy with and make special request because phiniac is nothing if not accommodating of their customers :)

That is why we cater to both type of people. But even so I still think most people are willing to walk around with a less serious design on their tank then they would on their body. Some of the designs we have planned for tanks I would never consider for a tattoo but I think would be awesome for a tank!

Then again, I've seen some tattoos where the beholder either didn't care or didn't put much thought in it!

I still hold to the fact that choosing a tank design is not as serious or important as choosing a tattoo design, which is probably why as much as I want one, I still have no tats... OK and also the fact that I am too much of whimp and feel no pain when the hubby is sandblasting a tank!.

Nope, I didn't think it was as serious but I failed to realize that it would be viewed as an analogy in that regard lol

(A better example of what I was thinking) The people that make the clear tanks and textured tanks fly off the shelves, may be purchasing those instead of the others because they are seeking something more neutral

That is very interesting! I know there are a few who purchase them because they want something less busy or neutral, but I also thought that at least some were purchasing them because the price point was too high on the decorated ones....

That is why we are coming out with the sandblasted to tanks. To allow people to have something personalized and decorated at a lower price point.

I have to say, I really like those scribble tanks ... they have nice color, nice coverage, and aren't too "specific"? Is that the word I am looking for? You could use the same one in alot of different PV/DT combos.
I am getting another as soon as the blue PV comes..... like the tall-boy I missed.

Many people buy neutral because out of what is available there is nothing that feels personal to them. It is why I haven't bought one of these tanks yet. Waiting for something I fancy. If I didn't already have so many boring tanks, some I paid quite a lot for, I might have gone for one the neutral ones.

I already made a request. No idea when anything will come of that. Have a feeling they are concentrating on getting all this other stuff out. Not sure what they will come up with for the Hitchhiker's theme I didn't really specify what kind of tank. That was before all this sandblast stuff.

Waiting for all the mods I've ordered has gotten me used to waiting.

This peaks my interest! What's the estimated price range? :)

Sandblasted Clear Tanks Start at:

Regular Size $44
TB $45
XL $46

+ .75 per letter

If you are willing to wait or don't mind if others have the same design, no extra charge for special requests.

We are adding more handblowns to the site tonight/tomorrow!

That's what request are for! But the request portion is going to be made that much easier for sandblasting :)

Yup!

Yes we got your request, but it came in after the supplies order for the batch we are finishing this evening.

I also think your request will be a better candidate for the blasting!

I agree much better sandblasted. I never specified the size, at the time I didn't really care, but now I think I would prefer the XL. Do I need to send another email, I don't want to confuse you.

Personally, I like the textured and looking forward to the sand blasted tanks. Since I want something that is more simple and classy. I do like some of the other tanks but, most are too colorful and IMO "girly". Really not sure walking around or even using at home.

Tanks that have hearts, flowers and such. It's just not me. If there were something like those tribal designs or similar that were to be put onto the tank and only had one or two colors then it would be more appealing to me. Would definitely get one of those.

I imagine they wouldn't be, but not all the blown ones have hearts and flowers, we have some cool lizards, scribble like designs as well as ones that have a like a tiger thing going on... but every ones taste is different so those might not be for you either.

It never stops amazing me, the ones I think came out the worst are the first ones to sell!

I wish I could use these endcaps on a Phiniac tank. I think the reason is obvious.
