I can't wait to get my 5 Phoenix (Phoenii?) from the most recent CoOp ... I am for sure going to try a SS wick in one of them. May as well yeah?

Yea why not ^^; that's the joy of rba's, experimenting! I always end up going back to cotton though. Still wanna play around with some genesis tanks but no funding atm.

Heh, I also plan to experiment with painting at least the top portion of one. :) I figure a good high temp paint would work. Just sacrifice a drip top to plug the top, and a toothpick or such for the air hole. Good rough sand and some high temp paint and bob's your uncle. :)

just did it, took a few tries. i broke the ends off before setting the coil and it came off. second time, i messed up the coil when threading the top screw. my posts are the same height, and there is no play to raise a post.. i pulled them out, there is like an 1/8 inch wedge on the bottom, so u cant really raise them. not sure how you got one taller. mine is a real phoenix. anyway, works great with same amount of wraps, and cotton gauze. taste cleeeeean!!

just made a 400 stainless steel screen. if anyone wants to know, a 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inch piece rolled on a paper clip fits perfectly for this method, using a 3/32 drill bit to wrap the coil.

roll it, burn with torch, dip in water (3 times), dip in e-juice and burn off with lighter (3 times) oxidizes it enough. you can cut the screen in 3 equal pieces, or 2 depending how long you want it, for extra screens.

put the screen in the coil, rip the head off a q-tip, rip that piece in 1/2, and stuff a 1/2 on each sife of the bottom of the phoenix. works great!

YEAH, BABY! Tried your method, I just took the best vape of my life! Your instructions, pictures are awesome. I added one more loop to my coil and got 2.3 ohms, single length of cheese cloth (no loop) . . . cracklin' rosie! My Phoenix Bully had a tight draw too, but I added a drip tip gasket to the bottom (where the cap bottoms out on the atty base) and aligned the existing hole; that did the trick. Thanks so much for this great tutorial!

Its probably like mine... The screw doesn't tighten all the way down on the taller post.

Well... the problem is that it's a countersunk screw; the head of the screw is NOT designed to tighten against a flat surface. They probably had no reason NOT to use these when building the atomizer, since the screw was never designed to tighten flush to the post. I have the same issue with mine; I'll just have to replace it with a standard stainless steel machine screw

You guys have been my source of information that made it
possible for me to actually order wick wire and mesh
with confidence a sense of the direction I want to go
with my Phoenix clone, mini A7 and DiD clone ( which came with all the "innards" stuff)
I just got all the wick, wire and mesh from MYVAPORSTORE because they had A-1 Kanthal in longer length, silica in skinnier width and longer lengths and mesh 500 at good price. Low USPS shipping. Good stop for beginner RBA stuff

Hope this helps somebody and I hope these members hear about my appreciation for their great posts. I dont think starting a thread would be polite!
Sometimes it's the simple answer people like me need before it starts to seem less complicated. I also thank whatever Chinese person made my premades coil and wicks I got when I bought the Phoenix clone. I have an igo-s2, I can put together now too and re wick my little great ERoll and once I see how thin my 33 wire is maybe re coil ( so long as I don't burn the filling down in them! Yeah that's one last question (ha ha famous last words) I wasn't clear on the answer was the filler in the eRoll Atties and dry burning their coil a little bit. Those little guys are expensive! But re coiling is best.
Thank You Special Group from Me
Probably the dumbest most literal minded non technical person out there. Trust me. None more lost than me in that world but plenty like me. We wouldn't be able to grow without your unselfish clear and positive help. Yay ECF posters! Thank you all for your good questions because I couldn't even figure out what questions to ask half the time!
