The coil and wick that comes attached to the Phoenix shoe have a tag on it as display only! They are not very good at all.
Not surprised but good to hear. Will wind up one of my own later on and give it a whirl. Thanks..

I would be happy to help you out RobWell I got my phoenix clones in and finally have time to work on them. Hoping Rob or someone else who has successfully modded one of these can give some last minute tips on what to do or better yet, NOT to do. I have several gauges of ss blunt needles to use as sleeves once I drill the attys. Not clear on whether I need to do anything with the pin on the grand or the one on the atty. Basically any summarization would be helpful in preventing a melted spring.
Thanks in advance.
Well I opened em up and gave it a shot. First one had a broken post right out of the post so I am down to 2. seconds drilled out just fine. pressed in the needle and cursed while i got it back together. The eyes are not what they used to be I am afraid. Slapped it on the provari and it tested fine. Pulled the pin up a tough on the bf 510 connector and screwed it on. Hmm nada, added a 510 shorty unsealed connector and we have lift off. Very airy draw and so-so flavor. Decent vapor. This on the stock coil after washing all parts and a PGA soak. Flavor should get a bit better as wick was not totally dry. Main issue I see is without milling down the sides of the well and shortening the posts the way Rob shoed in his picture, the coil sits 1/4" off the floor of the well so it relies on pure wicking since juice can not get high enough to soak the coil before running back down the feeder hole. Not ideal but fun experiment and works ok, just not a chain vaping machine. Worth the cost for the experience.
I could grind the sides of the well down lower but main main issue is the pin height and not sure how I would lower them yet as they are just press fit into the base.
I just tried again in the stock set up. I just can not do it. Supper light draw and got the Atty gurgle when vaping. It Got real hot even at 2.8 set at 4.2v. I will try to mod it tomorrow evening after work but for now Is back in the to be cleaned pile.
I will report back with the mod I did and how it works out.
