New acquisitions are going to have to wait for a spell. Just got hired on for a new job, but there's going to be about a month and a half of pain with no funds coming in. It'll be worth it as we're building up a brand new program at one of the school districts. Training will be pretty intense as we'll be Level 1 Active Shooter certified.

One of the issues I've had with carrying my Masada on duty is the lack of resources in obtaining a Level III duty holster for the weapon. I was able to find a Level II holster through Orpaz, but finding one the meets Level III standards has been difficult. I finally found a source (another Israeli company) and put in an order last April in anticipation of getting this new job. The nice thing about this company is they'll modify a holster to your specifications depending on what you have on your weapon. For example, they wanted specifics on my RDS and wanted me to take some measurements so they could get me exactly what I needed. Takes a while for them to get it done, but mine is finally on the way and will be in my hands by Thursday.

The company is Front Line Holsters. Check 'em out. They have some decent stuff and the fact they're willing to work with a customer to get exactly what they need puts them high on my goto list.

Hmmmmmmm. I think I'll have to hold one before I pass judgement. It'll either be a hit, or an unmitigated disaster.

Ooooof! Started the new job last week and one of the things they require is the serial number on my sidearm. On the Masada, it's on the trigger group so I decided to pull it yesterday so I could write down the serial number.

Ummmmmm, I hadn't realized how long it's been since I've really cleaned this thing. I'll take pics later, but it's pretty bad.

I think there's probably close to 1,000 rounds through it since the last thorough cleaning.

**sigh** Dammit. I screwed something up really bad putting the trigger group back into the frame. This is not good as now the weapon doesn't go into battery now. Trigger is dead dead dead. I think I bent something I shouldn't have bent. I may be buying another Masada this week and sending this one in for gunsmithing.

Ordered Wednesday, picked up Thursday on my way in to work. Going to put a few hundred rounds through it tomorrow. Manual says it has a 7 lb trigger pull. If I think it's too much, I'll probably drop an Apex trigger into it to lower it down to around 5 lbs.

Range report..... Yeah, the trigger is pretty heavy. Groupings were not up to my usual standard. Ordered an Apex trigger for it yesterday and it should be here within a few days. Otherwise, it's a pretty nice pistol. Looking forward to getting the new trigger in and putting a few more hundred rounds through it. I expect the accuracy to tighten up quite a bit once that's done. This will most likely become my new duty weapon once it's all dialed in.

Heh... I watched the video for replacing the trigger and immediately knew this wasn't something I wanted to tackle. Too many tiny parts and springs which I KNOW would either lose, put back in wrong or generally screw it up. So..... Once the Meprolight sights show up, it's going to the gunsmith for a proper job.

So..... I ordered a jig that allows a smooth pin punch without buggering up the frame on the FN. This morning, I looked at it wondering if I should take it with me to drop the FN off at the gunsmith. Naw, sez I. He surely has one.

Get to his shop, and he says he'll have to take it with him to his Fort Worth shop as he didn't have the jig there. Massive face palm. Hell, I'd have even done a trade with him. Jig for a discount on the work I'm having done.

Whoa! This has become my favorite shooter and I plan on using it as my duty weapon as soon as I have approval. That APEX trigger made a HUGE HUGE difference! Meprolight sights are pretty nice, too.

I put 250 rounds through it last weekend and was blown away at how nice it shoots now.

If you had a choice......

5" Springfield Ronin Operator or 5" Colt Competition Government?

I'm leaning towards the Ronin. That two tone finish has had me drooling from the first time I saw one. And the Ronin is $200 cheaper.

Both are nice pieces. Unless you want to buy the ‘Colt’ for its name, I’d say the Ronnin has the edge on looks and features (serrated front slide, ambi-safety, front rail).

While I love my Console Vault, one of the biggest beefs I have with the setup is the lock. It's a royal pain in the backside unless you unlock it before you go anywhere, and lock it back up when you stop. The lock contains 4 separate spin wheels. Not very handy if you need to open the safe up while you're driving. Then they came out with an electronic version which is better (and always sold out for my model safe). Now they've finally hit the perfect blend with a module that connects to the electronic lock. It plugs into a USB port in your console. When you start the car, the port energizes and unlocks your safe. Turn the car off, the power is removed from the safe and it automatically locks. SWEET! And every time I checked the website, the #$)(*#$)(*& thing was STILL sold out.

Received an email last week that they were back in stock. Immediately pulled the trigger on the setup and I think I'm going to install it today. I'll let y'all know what I think of the setup once I'm finished and test it out for a few days.

Well damn... The USB outlet in my console is outside the safe. So I can't use the module that goes with the electronic lock. Oh well. The electronic lock works well and can be opened with minimal distraction.

Nope. It's outside the actual safe towards the top of the console itself. I don't know if Console Vault changed the design on the actual safe or not. I purchased this one several years ago before the electronic locks came out. The USB port is about an inch above the lid for the safe.
