I find the Lorann to be less sweet and a little more "tart", but I have not used other brands so only have one reference to speak from. I do think it is a very true to name flavor though. It seemed to work very well in that first test recipe I posted earlier. Wonder if you might have some Lemon or something a little sour to lessen the sweetness? That might work.
Geeez.... who am I to be making suggestions like that? I'm still learning DIY, so I probably am "talking out of school". Just was a thought.
This site has fantastic pricing on Lorann products LorAnn Oils Gourmet Flavoring .125oz. .... hope it was OK to post it.

Oh yes I have lemon :). It's sad to say but I have almost every DIY flavor there is to have but they are from different vendors like I have LA,PA,FA,DIYFS,CA but it just seems like for this recipe the Pineapple I have from PA isn't right for me and of course wouldn't you know it I don't have it from any other vendor I may have to run to town tomorrow and grab a bottle from the bakery. I also have the Pandoro which is lemony so maybe I can even try that.

I have only been doing DIY for a few months now myself but like some others on here I LOVE to bake (hate to cook) and I use that in testing my DIY and getting the tastes I want :). I don't care if someone has been doing DIY for a day or ten years I am always up for their thoughts and tips :).

okay...not sure about this, but my mom suggested a touch of brown sugar....don't know as I have not tried that flav yet.

I mix brown sugar and butter flavoring in mine.

The thing for me is that I am trying to get the taste of my moms recipe because I loved that taste growing up. She never used cherries on hers and it always had a buttery brown sugar taste and it was oh so yummy!

I just tried a new batch with a little brown sugar and I think it helped. But just a little. And also butter helped smooth it out in the next batch. I have bottles all over the place now..... but they are labeled and organized for once.
Think we are getting closer and closer. Also added a wee bit of marschino (sp?) cherry and that really made a difference. By the time it's all said and done, there will be about 50 flavorings in this recipe....lol.

I bought several 15ml bottles of PA products that I am not very happy with. They have sort of a solvent smell. Did speak to the vendor (a very nice lady, btw) and she offered to refund, but I wanted to see what a little time did first. Now I've had them close to two weeks and a couple have started to smell better, but still don't taste good at all and really too late to ask to return them. Another good reason to try those smaller bottles. Some of the flavors just looked so good I could not resist the large bottles and could not resist the pricing. Think is was under four bucks for 15ml.... or maybe that was a warning I should have considered. Too good to be true.....

edit..... EM to me is the best sweetener.... or a little cotton candy.... guess same thing???

Linda is wonderful and very helpful if yo have any issues. Like many vendors some of her flavors are spot on and then there are some like waffle or cheesecake (for me) that taste like nothing but chemically. I have every single one of her flavors and I like at least 3/4 of them so I think I got lucky. I only bought her 6ml bottles (from onestopdiyshop) the ones they didn't have I bought from her site (4ml). That was back when I was smart and bought small and tried them before I went on to larger bottles.

I have to agree EM (yes same thing as cotton candy) is the best sweetener and also if used sparingly will just add body without making your juice sweet. It is a awesome little juice that works in about everything.

horton you said you have cinnamon who is it from? So far I have tried cinnamon from Lorann's and flavor apprentice I have some from flavourart but I haven't tried it yet and I have atomic cinnicide coming from tasty vapor. Is it a candy cinnamon or a more natural cinnamon? I am looking for the natural tasting cinnamon for my snickerdoodle recipe.
