I was joking...

why would we want tar?

However, while I have some very knowledge and helpful peoples attention. Why do people vape liquids that crack or melt plastics? and why would or wouldn't those same liquids be harmful to vape?

serious

Do we know anything is safe to vape? Personally, I'm not worried about it considering how many years I smoked. I had a long read about how molecules in different types of plastic breakdown and since my lungs aren't made of plastic, I'm not concerned.

What is produced during, or as a result of, the breakdown does concern me, which I why I use primarily glass and will stop using a device that appears to be reacting - however slightly. I think in terms of vinegar and bleach. Both are fine by themselves, but when mixed together there is a problem.

Seriously, I DO NOT vape such eliquids. Those that crack plastic contain, most likely, essential oils of cinnamon, clove and citrus. There have been many threads, in the General and Health forums, dealing with potential dangers of inhaling essential oils. Kurt, our resident chemist and my personal guru, is against it also. I can find you the links, if you're interested, or do an advanced search for essential oils and eliquids.

If mixed properly with other flavors TA is quite a nice vape. Prolly for new vapers one of my most popular recipes. As for acidic juice...I stopped using it when I thought the same as you.

Are those the things we still withdraw from even though we have nicotine?

You have a point.. is it worth it though?

Who am I going to make e-cig innuendos with?

I haven't ran into any yet. Do most vendors let people know in the description if a liquid will damage plastic?

I know cinnamon is one but, not all that do are cinnamon right?

No there's no withdrawal from TA- it's just a flavoring. We go thru withdrawal from nicotine and the alkaloids present in tobacco. Scientists did a study. They addicted rats to nicotine and placed a bowl of nicotine in the cage- rats wouldn't self medicate. They then got the rats addicted to nicotine+ alkaloids and placed a bowl of alkaloids+ nicotine in the cage. The rats made beeline to the bowl and began self medicating. Some vapers that have a hard time stopping smoking have the option of WTA

Thanks for the links, I put them on my reading list.

Ocelot, what I'm sharing here are but my personal views and concerns, based on what I've learned here and elsewhere. As you know there are no long-term studies wrt safety of vaping. Vaping was invented what, 6, 7 years ago? We're the trail blazers and guinea pigs all at once. Having said that, I know people who vape Atomic Cinnacide non stop and, to the best of my knowledge, are still alive. However, I prefer caution; if it cracks plastic and dissolves paint, I probably don't want it in my lungs. :p

I trust Kurt! :)

When I smoked and got a craving it would drive me up a wall. Now if busy with a project I can go hours without a vape without problems. A few months ago I had to go out of town overnite and forgot my vape kit. It wasn't "happy times" but I made it through with lottsa gum, suckers, potato chips and junk food  So about 24 hrs later with about 5 extra lbs I made it back. Funny thing is when I got home I really didn't vape any more than usual.

Nobody knows for sure, but there is a subforum here, affectionately known as "the dark side," which caters to those who can not quit with nicotine alone. Those folks use Swedish snus, dissolvable tobacco and, most recently introduced, WTA eliquids in conjuction with vaping to quit smoking. They believe that nicotine is only one, albeit a major one, of the alkaloids contained in tobacco leaf. The minor alkaloids seem to play a role in tobacco addiction as well. Some people can do without them, others not so much.

Correct. Read it and weep! :D

I've seen some vendors posting warnings about certain eliquids cracking plastics.

You're welcome. Long story short I was told by a smoking cessation expert the first 2 weeks were the roughest cuz of withdrawal from the alkaloids. She supports vaping 100% and I learned quite a bit from her.
Night, Night Eddie and you're welcome.

Very true. Missing a vape is nothing like a panic caused by a prospect of not having a cig nearby. Is there any smoker in the world who never got in the car and drove to a 7/11 at 2 am in a blizzard because he/she only had one cig left in the house?

I hope that didn't sound snarky! I didn't mean it that way. For anything on-line longer than a couple of paragraphs I have to copy it into Word and break up the lines to be able to read it.

Oh, no, not at all! I just wanted to make myself clear. I didn't want to sound argumentative. We all make our own decisions based on what we know. Or think we know. :)

I love this forum--I learn something new here every day.

I didn't know that.

I'll try to keep my paragraphs short!

Sweat dreams, Kitty !

Luckily we don't have blizzards in South Florida. Lol.
