I was smoking light cigarettes. My husband told me to start with a medium nic (16-18) and i didn't listen. I started with light, 8 mg i think and i was still having pretty bad cravings. Probably the only time i will ever say this but i should have listened to him from the start because as soon as I went up the the medium i wasn't getting anymore cravings. I started with the disposables at the gas station just to see if it would work for me. I then upgraded to an ego kit 25$ at the gas station. I should have started with a little better kit but its a learning lesson. Just make sure you get a battery that's 650mah or over so you don't have to change batteries more than 2 times a day.

I smoked about 10-12 cigarettes a day. Marlboro "lights" or gold or whatever they call them now. I was at a party in March and a guy was using e-cig. I tried a couple of puffs and was presently surprised on how decent it was. About 6 weeks later, Groupon had a deal on V-2 starter kit for $25 - two batteries, juice, charger, and 5 cartomizers. So I pulled the trigger and ordered. I figured the monetary risk was pretty low and if they worked for me, it's be awesome. So I kept my mind open, did research and tried it out. At first, I still smoked analogs along with the V-2 e-cigs. Then I did more research and found that the only Volcano store in California is about a mile from my house. so I went in and got their starter kit (510 type) It was much better, but the juices were so so.

Well, they don't call me LadyGadget for nothing. I ended up adding a few E-Go batteries and totally quit analogs. Since May 15, I've only smoked 1 cigarette, and I hated it. Haven't had one since May 26. This is the longest I've gone without a cigarette in 35 years. I work with 3 smokers and my husband still smokes, so there's always a pack of Marlboro's laying around the house. For me, the key was finding a set up that gave a good throat hit, and that the juice tasted good. Right now I'm using juices made here in the SF Bay area. My favorite is Mojito from Tasty Vapes (kinda of a menthol, with a hint of lime and rum) and Apollo's Mango Peach. In my experience, I find a couple of vapes usually keeps me happy for an hour or so when at work, as opposed to smoking an entire cigarette everytime.

So, initially, you are going to spend more, but once you find your flavors and equipment, it will be reasonable in cost and you'll feel so much better.

Thank god you're here and reading this! Any of you & all of you. This may be long, so I apologize.

I'm abt to give up giving up smoking. Its been 20 yrs and my health is really suffering. I tried to quit a dozen times and was never successful... patches, prescriptions, cold turkey, tapering, etc. After awhile I just decided that I was a "lifer" and would have to learn to deal with that. Then I found hope again with the invention of the e-cig. I've bought cheaper models and it was like sucking air, only not as good! Now, I'm a smart freakin consumer, I research the CRAP outta everything before I decide to purchase. But buying my first real kit is going to be expensive (I'm unemployed, too) plus I'm losing my patience/hope, so I really have to hit the nail on the head the first time I buy a kit.

This has made things extremely frustrating ... because as u all know, there are hundreds/thousands of threads here & a plethora of info. I've been reading non stop daily for a few months now, and honestly I feel like I am NO CLOSER to making a final decision/purchase. I always *think* I've decided but then I continue reading & hear abt something else that might work better or some factor I hadnt considered. I'm not even sure I can do this, really. I'm terrified that I cant. It sounds too good to be true. With the increasing number of god awful ones I keep trying and trying, I'm starting to think this might not be a viable option.

Here is what I'm looking for as far as help ...

I have smoked Newport menthol 100s for ages now, & as some of u may know, there really isnt any other cigarette quite like a newport. They are VERY strong. Nothin I try can even come ANYWHERE NEAR close enough to feeling like I can be successful. They all have very little to NO throat hit ... that's probably the MOST important thing to me. I have to *feel* it. Secondly, I need to find a decent menthol, preferably something as close to Newports as possible. If I can find a reasonably priced starter kit that gives incredibly strong throat hits then I'd be willing to spend the time/money trying many different flavors until I find one that works for my taste. I didnt want to start off with something too wacky because I know that I have to come as close as possible to the looks/feel/taste/ritual of real smoking or I wont persue quitting. At this point tho, I'm so desperate that I think I am much more flexible as to the size/weight/etc ... I figure the biggest Id like to go is the size of a cigar or something (not a cuban! lol) I also cant spend more than $100, and preferably MUCH lower than that. I dont evn know if I can find something of quality for $50-$75.

Any advice is IMMENSELY appreciated. I am overwhelmed with all this info and I just need the help and guidance of the pros.

Welcome to the forum, i know your feeling i had the same issue.

I started with the kr808d-1 the small batteries (to be exactly the volt ones 65mm) you can check the link in the smokelessimage website Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt Pack Electronic Cigarette Kit their ice menthol is really good and try a 18mg ones
you also try the v9 nebula express pack E-Cigarette | Buy E-Cigarettes | Buy Electronic Cigarettes - Vapornine.com crisp menthol is really good, and also they have an eliquid called new port menthol that is good too.

both kits are for no more than 20 bucks, also they v9 guys have a e liquid called newport menthol that is really good.
Also i remember the v9 guys used to give free samples.

if you really like the mini batteries and the cartos the next step is to buy an extra battery, a pack of 5 cartos and a bottle of eliquid with the same flavor of your cartos, the mini batteries last for 2-4 hours, so you will need to have a backup battery, also you can buy some nano clearos ( you can find them from the smokelessimage website) and fiil them with your eliquid.

Whats the good thing about the mini batteries (KR808-D1) they look and feel like a real cigarrette (those things saved my life).

The next step is up to you, you can keep using the mini batteries and buy a pcc to keep your vaping up, or you can buy a bigger battery, and try to stay away from those ego thread with 808 connector (unless you want to keep using your nanos or cartos) and buy an ego battery with ego and 510 connector (then you can try a protank, vivinova, or a CE5)

Once you get used to the vaping you can go for the next level, a bigger battery
