Please help this n00bie out with his eGo (cartridge problem)...

So I fill up a blank cartridge, poor a drop or two of e-juice on my atomizer and start vaping away. After about a minute or two, it appears as I ran out of juice because all I'm getting is that burnt taste. I check the cartridge and it's still full!

What am I doing wrong? This is only my second day with the eGo.

Ahhh, this is why I gave up cartridges. What I did was replace the filler from my cartridges with "Marineland Rite Size U" from a Petco (or any place that sells aquarium stuff) it helps the juice to wick up into the atomizer so you don't have to top off as often.

THEN, I went to cartomizers: easy to fill, each one lasts about an hour and you can refill all of them the night before so they are just grab and go in the morning. But I kept burning the filler - once they burn you can't fix them, you have to be really careful to switch them out every hour so they don't burn.

THEN, I started dripping with a drip tip; just drip a couple of drops right down the drip tip and you get about 10 drags from it and then drip again.

NOW: I use the drip tip at home and the cartomizers in the car. I gave up completely on the cartridges though.

Did you do some kind of mod on the catridge ? Make sure the filler is saturated (two or three drops is not enough) and that it touches the atomizer when inserted.

Here's one you can try right now: take out the cart filler and cut it in half crosswise so that the plug is still the same width, but now it's half as long. Now fill the empty cart about 3/4 full and put the filler back in like a plug (flush with the top of the cart) , top off with juice so it looks like a slushy and vape.

It could be a couple of things causing this. Like humpty said, you need to make sure that the filler is saturated and touches the atomizer. What I'm wondering is if there's too much filler in the cart? I had a similar problem, and fixed it by using My Simple Cart Mod. Works like a charm for me!

I use Fluval from Petsco or Petsmart, Amazon.com: Hagen Fluval Polishing Pad-Fine 104/105/204/20 3/pk: Kitchen & Dining Cut into small long wedges slightly larger than the cart, (you'll adjust this til you get it optimized) I get carts to last about an hour, but they are consistant with good vapor, i cut new fluval after every 4 or 5 carts, its cheap and effective. everyone finds their own solutions and what works for them. there are many videos in the mods threads for carts. Good Luck

I haven't had this problem with mine, until I got a LR atty, that one seems to be doing exactly what you described..? Cart doesn't seem to be wicking into the atty properly... and the LR is NASTY when it goes dry... I switched back to my regular atty until I get a chance to mess with it.

Rosa, I'm gonna try the Blue Foam method today. I ordered a bunch of cartomizers but they won't arrive until probably Thursday or Friday. Unfortunately, I can't drip in my car so I'm gonna need to get the cartridges to work.

Everyone has given you the solutions, but not exactly identified the problem. You're vaping faster than the filler is able to wick the juice. The cart mods everyone has suggested all attempt to solve the problem. None of them did it adequately enough for me. I drip, though I am coming to like the new e2 cartos. the taste is almost as good as dripping and the lack of filler means no burning taste.

I agree with Rosa's experience. Since this is a Newbie's forum I think the best initial method for new users is definitely a cartomizer. If someone wants to toy around later with cartridges, drip tip or whatever they certainly can. But for simplicity and ease of use for a newbie - the cartomizer wins hands down in my book.

I had some time to mess with the cart and LR atty that was causing problems, pulled the filler out and found a "weak" spot in the filler. About 1/4 inch in from the bottom the filler thinned out in one spot, above the thin spot was plenty of juice just not making down to the bottom. I just cut that 1/4 inch off, dripped about 10 drops into the cart and put the filler back in. Been vaping well for a good hour now, no leaks, no prolbems!

I was having that issue with my Ego at the beginning as well, I find that if I pull out the filler, fill the cart with about 8 drops (on a standard size cart) and then put in the filler, pushing it with my tweezers, all the way down, put in some more drops, about 4, pull up the filler to the top with just a tad sticking up so it will get to the atomizer and make sure that the filler is wet, not dripping but wet, I'm good to go. I was putting about 3 drops in the atty and found it 'dripped alot' through the base near the manual button, so I only prime with one drop now.... I've had to 'play' with it to get it to a 'science' but I'm there even with the Ego Mega Carts with Mega Atty....I can fill both of mine in 1 1/2 min. LOL...or less...hee hee...as much time as it took me to grab a smoke, my lighter and go into the garage or out to the deck...don't get frustrated....it's a matter of working with it to get it just right for you.

When I got home last night, I took both carts and pulled the filler out, cut them down to about 1/4 inch, filled the empty carts almost to the top with juice then put the little bit of filler back in. Haven't had that problem since. Seems that they just don't wick as well as they need to sometimes, but give this a try, it's worked for me! Haven't had any leaks either, even with leaving it standing up all night..

Blue foam fixes this. Polyfill goes bad fast. You can buy blue foam at petco or at StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop! for .75 cents for a pack of 10. A drip tip also fixes this.

This is the method I tried last night and it worked great! I went to Petco last night and bought some. Now, I have enough blue foam at home to last me a lifetime.

Try this method by highping My simple Cart Mod in (Tips and Tricks - Cartridge Mods). I tried to put the link in but it didn't work still learning about this forum. I have an ego and tried it and it works great. Main thing is keep your atty wet wet wet. I was letting mine get dry and was getting that burnt taste. A refill was only lasting for 30 min or so and I was trying to go 2-3 hours. Trying highpings method I have been vaping the same fill for about 2 hours now and no burnt taste. This is one cart mod that works.
