Just got my first mod with replaceable batteries (Voopoo drag.) I bought myself 4 Samsung 25 r batteries. They do not get warm when charging, I charged them on the lowest setting on an external charger. After firing the mod for a little while I popped the back off to see if the batteries were getting warm, since the tank was (smok tfv8) they weren't warm, but had a strange smell. It wasn't anything powerful, since I could only smell them with the cover off. It's kind of metallic, pretty sure I've smelled this on other batteries as well. Should I be concerned? For now I have removed the batteries and put them all in containers. If there was a vape shop near me I would take the batteries to them and ask for help, but unfortunately I live in a small town and this isn't an option - they took almost a week just to get here. For reference, I am using a 0.15 ohm coil and vaping at 80 watts. The batteries seem fine other than this smell, they aren't damage, don't get hot, and seem to charge, hold their charge, and do everything they need to. It would really suck to have to order new batteries, so hopefully this is normal and nothing of concern.. sorry for the long post, thanks for the help.

what kind of charger do you have.when you place them in the charger,it should read the voltage by blinking or showing volts.then it will display so many lights or volts.
I have a Efest LUC S2 Dual Charger and two of the 4 batteries are being read at around 3.9 volts at about half charge, will check the other two in just a second

Edit: other two batteries are at about 3.7 at nearly empty charge.

between here and there
Yeah, I'm kind of an idiot and posted to threat to two places because I thought the other one didn't go through, and dunno how to delete this one. I've only posted once to this site before, my bad!
No worries, one of the mods will merge the two threads together. Not sure if you have to ask or not. Lets wait and see.

they only charge to 4.2 volts max some charges a little less.what ever makes you comfortable.
Good to know what the max voltage is, this charger seems to be rather unreliable.. as wiggling the batteries in the charger drastically changes what it reads amp wise and volt wise, will be upgrading it soon.

How reliable is the vendor you got the batts from, maybe they are counterfeit or clones. The charger just charges so unless the charger is defect I would more lean to bad batts. My batteries have never emitted a smell and I use a old LUC 2 bay charger. Its a bit weird that there is a smell and they fluctuate in the charger like that. One quick test is read the output on the back of the charger then divide that into the mAh of the battery to see how many hours it should take to charge that battery, most are 400-500 mAh per hour to charge.
