It is very confusing at the beginning. What battery is best? What the heck is a CE4, and how is it different than a CE7? Is Kanger a type or brand? What if I buy something and then hate it later? Many more questions make it tough. Most forums are like that, not just this one.
Start light is my advice. I bought the VV (variable voltage) kit for almost $100.00 to start because I did not want waste money on the in between batteries. I ended up sending it back. I have 2-1100 mAh (milli amp) eGo batteries, and 1- 900 mAh pass through. Pass through means you can use it while it is plugged in. Handy for driving or at a computer. The number after the CE is different models. The CE4's are cheap and disposable, while the 2's have a replaceable coil. Kanger is a name brand. The T3's are very popular (I have 2), and easy to use.
I would not spend a lot to start. The starter kit shown earlier is a great beginning. It has 2 of what you need. I recommend the Kanger MT3 (it looks cooler), or the Evod.
Don't forget the liquid! They have good choices, and a discount for 3 or more. Try a tobacco, a fruit, and a sweet flavor. Go from there. 30 ml will get you going.
Good luck

would I need to buy any additional pieces with that particular kit? or liquid or anything?

The kit comes with everything you need to start vaping. All you need to do is purchase some juice. If you can find a local Vape shop, I recommend that because most of them have a Juice Bar and let you sample before purchasing. Cheers.

wicks are the pieces of string that are in your tank thing that absorb the juice here you can see them very good

Not sure if you ordered yet, but I got a Ego-V from the website recommended by this review (the discount code still works today):

Vapor Joes - Daily Vaping Deals: UPDATE: EGO-V aka KGO VV EGO PASSTHROUGH - $16.94

The guy orders from fasttech.com, which is where I ordered from. Took 8 working days to get to Japan through Singapore. The thing is, this is just the battery and USB cable. You'll have to add clearomizers in (I got CE4's because they are cheap, easy and disposable) along with some juice and maybe a carrying case. My total was about 35 bucks.

Ego Twists or Vision Spinners is how most people start out.

Buy 2. Get a usb charger and a wall adapter/wall wart to charge them.

Get some clearomizers to go with, like Kangers or EVODs

Buy at least 3 kinds of ejuice

never a waste, later on if you buy more expensive stuff, these things will be your backup.

Starter kits are pricey and only include the basic hardware but not juice. I know you’re new to this, so piecemealing the needed components can be daunting at first, but here are my recommendations: (1) go with an eGo type since there are many accessories threaded for this style; (2) buy one or two high-capacity batteries (1100mA or higher); (3) combined tank/cartridges with an attomizer such as the CE4 or Kanger T3 clearomizers and, perhaps most importantly; (4) quality juice. You may have to go through a lot of trial and error, but if your like tobacco flavors then Halo is fantastic (my personal favorite is Halo Tribecca 18mg). Of course if you like fruity or sweet-stlye juice and you’re not picky on complexity, there are hundreds to try. Oh, and I forgot to mention, be sure to purchase a charging apparatus that usually inputs to USB ports or uses an adapter for USB to A/C outlet.

Some of the sites I use for hardware are “valuevapor.com” and “discount vapors”, and juice-wise “Halo” and “ecblends”. There are many others. I stay away from non-US made juice due to the quality control needed for blending given that you are dealing with nicotine.

If you’re overwhelmed, you can just by the starter kit (recommend eGo) and get the juice and at least a few clearomizers. There’s a site called 5starecig.com that has cheap (although non-requildable) CE4 clearomizers, which are good if you’ll be sampling many juices for a while.

I know you've already ordered, however just in case there are any other noobs out there... The best thing I recommend is the Katana Kit from Vape Dojo. It has everything you need to get started except for juice, and they have some good juices. It's only $12.99 (sometimes $9.99 with a coupon such as RIGHT now with discount code KATANA.) and I would order two of them plus juice. If you try it and decide you don't like it, then not much money wasted. However, if you like it, then you have a whole world to explore!

I started out with a Greensmoke cigalike, I actually didn't realize how much I liked it until I then stepped up to an ego twist and have been experimenting with tanks, dripping, and cartomizers on it. I may be doing something wrong, there seems to be so much tweaking to these systems, that a cigalike, perhaps even a kr808 may be a way to start. I get as much vapor, and pretty thick on my little green smoke batt, pretty high quality. I love the Absolute tobacco flavor, most unique flavor I've tried. It seems like you're gonna want to step up, spend big bucks after you see how even the smallest unit is pretty mind blowing as far as replicating the smoking experience. You'll say, well bigger is better, right? Well, not as simple, too many options. I've only bought 2 packs of GS cartos, and have been refilling them, now with mostly Heathers Heavenly.

N I've been vaping for about 2 months now, completely off of analogs for 1 month. Im also someone who gets completely lost when it comes to anything electronic. I started with the ego twist with just the basic Stardust clearomizers. Im still using this same set up and i love it. If you have any sort of Vape shops around your area, you should definitely start there so they can help you get started. Hope this helps :)
