I just really did not like the build quality. Felt plasticky and a bit cheap to me. I truly like the design, power and "feel" of the Vmax(never felt one personally). The Vtube however was very light, couple that with its size(mini) version= not a good fit. The biggest reason however is that I felt no power gain over my Ego Twist, so the only upgrade was changeable batts! No thanks. Sooo, I ordered the new lavatube/varitibe x from iVape and will give it a try. Otherwise Vmax it is! More than I want to spend but that or will get a slick SS mechanical if I am spending over $100 anyway.
I got the varitube x mini from ivape today and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It feels super light and thin maybe even plasticky but the vape is outstanding. The quality of the build probably isn't as good as the vmax but it sure performs well. If you really do not want your VV to feel plasticky or cheap then I don't think the varitube will satisfy.
Its not like a Provari It uses a cheep form Of PWM The frequency will not show up on a Voltage Meter. You have to hook it up to an Oscilloscope
I dumps Raw power to your attys and cartos while this sounds cool It will reduce the life of your accessory of choice.
I have one of each and they are not in the same league. I do use them both but the comparison ends with they are round has a button and a meter.
After testing all day yesterday with an oscilloscope, there is certainly nothing cheap about the Vmax performance. It delivers perfectly regulated high frequency square wave voltage that doesn't lag under load.
If there is anything cheap about the Vmax, I would say perhaps they could have tuned the calibration a little better, but I doubt I can detect the error in a blindfold test.
Anyone here use a laptop? Guess what... There's probably 6 to 9 stacked Li-Ion 18650 cells in the battery. Yup.
Ever leave your laptop plugged in and walk away? Ever use your laptop on your lap, you know, right near your genitals? Ever do this while charging it?
OMG, stacked batteries! How many people in recent times have had their laptop battery explode? And how many people (total) use and carry around their laptops everywhere? I bet more than there are vapers...
I don't think a couple of stacked high-drain IMR 18350 batts in a tube mod that has built in safety protection is going to go KABOOM.
For $60 more, the Satin Provari offers stainless steel construction, superb machining, reliable and accurate electronics, AW 18650 IMR option (from 18490/500), and a one year warranty, plus inexpensive upgrades when new electronics are announced.

Supposedly, the Vmax has all sorts of protection to stop any kind of incident occurring with it's batteries.
It produces a huge amount of vapor and doesn't feel or look particularly cheap.
The biggest problem that the Vmax has is the fact it was made by Smoktech. Some people have had no problems at all but I've had three die on me within a couple of weeks of receiving them.
It's the reason I bought a ProVari - I think quality control may be slightly hit and miss at the Smoktech factory...
