We're looking at that, and also other ideas on improving cartomizer and battery design.

You would obviously know more about it than I do, but it appears that the main thing that holds the cap on so tightly is the adhesive on the label. If those suckers could be made just a hair shorter, the cap should be much easier to remove.

I would love to hear (ok read) you thought on that.

Not really. The edge of the label may add a little adhesion, but not enough to make a real difference. At least not in my experience. The challenge on altering the cap is that we also don't want it to come out TOO easily. And while some people would like a whistle tip, which would be easier to pull off, others wouldn't. Especially new vapers, who we ALWAYS have to keep in mind. That's the main goal, after all, to convert as many smokers to vapers as possible!

Thanks Leaford. It was just a thought and I always appreciate your posts.

I understand and agree with the whistle tips. I'm not sure if I would want one either, but it might be nice to have a ready-made whistle tip as an optional accessory. Maybe sold in packs of 5 or 10. Anyone who wants to could pop off the cap and replace it with the tip.

I'm one of those that just couldn't see myself using a whistle tip at all ever nope. ;)

I prefer a flatter device rather than a hook shape as the point of the hook will concentrate the pressure in one spot increasing the the spot pressure and subsequent likelihood of damaging a cap. The flatter bend (more L-shaped) spreads the force over a substantially greater contact-area.

[shrug] Just an opinion though. :)

I use a little wall hook with a threaded end. I gently screw the thread in the hole just enough to get a good grip, but not enough to crack the lip around the hole, otherwise I get some juice in my mouth. It just pops right off. Usually after that I can pull the top off with my fingernail, although I have broken a cap doing that.

Ah, but the hook fits reaches around, and grabs the rubber ring from the bottom side, so the pressure isn't on the cap at all.

:) No - it was "Santa Paws" at one of the big-box pet stores. That was in 1997. Thor! had just turned two years old at the time and we were shopping for birthday gifts. :)

Thor! ended-up wrenching his back and being off his feet for a couple weeks (as much as I could keep him that way). He didn't LIKE Santa Paws. He wanted Mommy, who was standing just off camera to get him to look the right way. He twisted so hard in Santa's arms that he threw his back out and tore the leg on Santa's pants with his ClawsOfDoom!

(Yes, the exclamation mark is integrated into the name. It's required... ;) )

Poor puppy, yeah mine doesn't like being far from my side either. Posting pic since it's not my avatar anymore!

AN update for both threads:

I was just showing my homemade cart pulling tool to our engineer for mass production, but he told me he finally found an easier cap for us. We've been asking for that for a LONG time, and so far all they came up with was to stop gluing them in place like they used to. But Monday I should have a sample of an easy to remove cap, and I will let you all know how it is.
