Just caught the tail end of a segment on Fox News on vaping. Fox News' primary medical consultant, Dr. Marc Siegel, said that he's very supportive of vaping, that there's no such thing and no danger associated with "second-hand vapor" and that CA has gone completely overboard with its call for a ban. He even added that some other states that have issued advisories were over reactions. He called on the FDA to work on some limited regulation to keep vaping out of the hands of kids but said that vaping is an important means of getting folks off analogs and eliminating most, if not all the risks associated with smoking.

It was nice to hear that Fox News and their Medical A Team are pro-vaping.

Dr Siegel said that there DO appear to be "some" carcinogens that "can" be produced by ecigs but that they were very minimal compared to smoking and that the benefits far outweigh the risks. He said that many of his clients have quit smoking using vaping and that they had not been able to quit by any other means. He's an important voice in the medical community and it's pretty awesome to have him on our side!

Just one more reason I love Fox News!

Fox has actually usually been fairly positive toward vaping; in fact, they have a talent (Steve Guttenberg?????) who often has vaped on-screen (particularly in panels discussing vaping). We can use all the positive coverage we can get, though!

It's Greg Guttfeld you're talking about. I agree with what you're saying entirely. However, having a renowned doctor on our side, on a major news outlet, is a BIG step up - especially from only having the support of a comedic personality on the network. Dr. Siegel speaks to, and is respected by, older generations that need to be convinced if we're to have ANY hope of beating back the anti vapor crowd and over regulation by the government.

Gutfeld would find it hilarious that he was misidentified as Steve Guttenberg, by the way.

Glad to hear that Dr. Siegel has changed his tune a bit on vaping. I saw him a few weeks ago and he was not at all supportive saying he preferred nicotine gum. As for Fox, they have quite a few pundits and reporters in support of vaping. John Stossel has featured it a few times on his Fox Business show since 2010.

Yeah, after I posted that I knew I had the wrong name (but couldn't place who Steve Guttenberg was either......). I was embarrassed enough to go back and edit the original.....

Nothing to be embarrassed about. Gutfeld has a 3:00 am show called Red Eye and they would occasionally joke about Steve Guttenberg because he appeared on the show once and then started dating Anna Gilligan from Fox News.

Yes, Dr. Marc Siegel has only recently changed his mind about the use of e-cigarettes or personal vaporisers. Got so mad at him at one time earlier in the year that I tried mightly how to contact him to give him a piece of my mind. Am thinking, Guttfeld educated him and/or some of his patients and he finally did some research on his own beyond what the FDA, CDC, AMA, ALA, ACA put out with the help of pharmaceutical funding!

Good to know Dr. Siegel is honest enough to know when he's wrong.......and some rather large parts of the medical community as well.

I don't want to hijack the thread but regardless of my political leaning I try not to discount any information based on the superficial associations. I tend to strive to critically examine all information and media coverage regardless of the source. Pretty much all media has a slant or bias but no one person has all the answers. To close off oneself to something positive for vaping based on preconceived notions really limits the knowledge one is exposed to. I do not conform to any one media outlet and tend to pick and choose from all of them. In this case I am elated that Gutfield is continuing to give vaping positive coverage and even vapes on camera. Regardless of his political leaning his argument and points are valid and helpful to us as vapers.

The thing that most people don't know about Gutfield is that even though he is on some shows on Fox news, he is a libertarian more than a conservative republican. I think it is great that he has spoke up publicly on multiple occasions.

Along time ago in a galaxy far far away, I used to stay up for Carson. Then I used to stay up for Leno. Then all that was left was Ferguson.

Now I stay up for Red Eye W/ Gutfeld. Love that show.

I used to wake up in the middle of the night to have a smoke. Now I wake up in the middle of the night to catch Red Eye. Great show!

Dr. Marc Siegel's views are changing. Early on, he and the other doctor they have on their (forget the name) were like any other channel - against ecigs. Glad to see he's come around some....
