easy way to not have to worry about that..... be smart enough not to get married in the first place :D

honestly, if this becomes a law I don't think I ever would get married.

I would rather be happy with someone for years to see if things turn out then to be bonded by them with a possibly of the relationship going bad... yet you can't get out of it.

I do agree with the fact yes, you should marry someone wisely, but I don't agree with being completely tied down even if things go wrong.

The list goes on and on! I hate it here in California!People used to move here in droves, now they are leaving, taxes on everything to high! The state of California is broke! I want out of this stupid place, but I was raised here, and can not leave mom and dad. The liberals have ruined California, and what ever state the liberals land in they will ruin.

"he's launched this initiative to mock the proponents of Proposition 8, which added "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California," to the state's constitution."

Read it more closely, Ladysolitary.

He's not serious - he's just trying to make a point of how ridiculous it is to ban gay marriage!

Actually, he says it even better:

John Marcotte said, " ... and if two gay people get married, it doesn't make my marriage that much safer. I thought a uh, more direct way to accomplish that same goal would be to ban divorce. If I can't get divorced, my marriage is safe in a way that stopping gay people from getting married can only dream of."

He's making fun of people who say banning gay marriage somehow helps "save" traditional marriage.

I know it does have to do with the ban of gay marriages and mocking it, but the fact that he got that many signatures to take further actions if her was serious sorta scares me....

I don't agree with the gay marriage ban either, but if he is actually serious about making this a law I wouldn't agree with it.

I'm researching a bit more on this, I just heard about it from a friend an hour ago, just started researching.

He is not serious, but this is a great example of how to use the media to bring attention to your cause. Maybe we could do something like this if a ban kicks in, start a ban coffee crusade or something.
