Someone posted a wick cleaning tip using a torch lighter. Coupled with Ping's pulse dry burn for the atty, it restores the tanks to like new condition. I do this once a week. It's also a very fast method.
Take a screwdriver to pry off the spike/wick.
Use a pair of tweezers to carefully pull the spike/wick plate out. (do not disturb the wick placement)
Use tweezers or a pair of pliers to hold the plate from the spike side.
Heat the wick under the butane torch lighter while rotating slightly.
Though you are only heating the one end of the wick, the entire wick (all the way through the spike plate) will be heated.
It will burn off all gunk, glow red, and cool off perfectly white.
You will now see a brand new looking wick all the way through to the spike end that you were holding it with the pliers or tweezers.
Let it cool off, then apply about 2 drops of juice to it, then let it sit.
Now, with the wick plate still removed, dry burn your atty.
Use Ping's method...
Blow out juice, press the battery button to make the coil glow red, then sustain a pulse. Blow on the atty from a distance while pressing the button a few times per second. This maintains a steady burning temp without overheating the atty.
I gently scrape the ashes/gunk off the coil while I give it burn breaks.
Rinse the ashes out of the atty with warm water or 150 proof vodka.
Repeat dry burn to dry out atty.
Let cool.
Now drop about 8 drops of your juice into the atty, and drip vape until you see some vapor.
Let cool.
Place your spike plate onto your filled cartridge.
Use the cartridge to push the plate back into the tank. Rotate the cart a few times once your plate is set back in.
Pull the cart back out. Your plate should stay inside the tank on its own.
Drop in about 2 more drops of juice directly on the spike/wick. This ensures that the wick stays wet.
Reinsert your filled cart.
Screw the tank into the battery.
Take a few quick hard dry puffs (puffs without engaging the battery button).
Unscrew the tank, wipe any excess juice off the tank battery end, and off the battery.
Re-screw back on & vape away!
This cleaning method only takes about 5 minutes. Using the lighter torch & dry burn to separately clean the wick & atty is a lot faster, and effective than soaking in alcohol, or dry burning with the wick left in place.
Your tank will work better than new & last forever.
It goes without saying that you do all of this at your own risk.
