Hi all, again, having problems with my prepunched cartos. I have a J-tank (electronicstix.com) and a mini sub (momandpopvaporstore.com). I use Bobba's Bouty. Both cartos from both shops after few days become metally in flavor. Wierd flavor, like smelling a leadpipe! TH and vapor still the same. I am sure it is the cartos since i removed them from the tank and they taste this way. I replaced one with a resurrector, still going but losing flavor slowly, and replaced the other with another boge from momandpop, this one also slowly becoming metally.I can't figure out the problem. i top up the cartos regularly before the tank is full, but the cartos seem saturated already. I tried to release the pressure from the mini sub many times also still same problem. Can anyone using these tanks show me the way to handle them? Thanks.

Well, I can't get my cartos to last more than a few days, either...... they do pick up an either burned or a metallic taste, means for me it's time to pitch them. I punch my own, using Boge XL cartos from Surevapes. $23 for a 5-pack bundle, free shipping. Means = about 92 cents for one carto. When it tastes weird, it goes in the garbage........

My same experience...and I love it because I customize the punch to the juice I'm using.

Hi aalwani, I don't claim to be an expert, but you may be prematurely declaring your carto's "dead". I have experienced this metallic taste too, and if we are talking about the same taste, it occurred when my cartos were flooded, not dry. Typically dry cartos will give you a nasty burnt taste, not a metallic taste.

The next time this happens, try this... Take carto/tank off of your pv. With the carto in the tank, tilt the tank so that the threaded portion is higher than the other end; rotate the tank so that the punched carto hole isn't submerged in juice; then blow excess juice out of the threaded end into a paper towel. Dry your PV fitting completely, then reassemble.

Please let me know if this works

Interesting ... Can you please elaborate on the method as I don't seem to understand the process. Thanks.

Hi Aal,

Randy is posting that you can gently blow through the cartomizer to get any juice out of the center channel. Sometimes some juice can get trapped in there.

My experience with cartomizers and tanks is that they work much better with a higher ratio of PG. VG is very thick and gumms up your cartos quickly. For 100% VG juices, I would drip onto an atty.

Others may chime in but is just what worked best for me.

I'm still learning myself, so take this with a grain... At first with the DCT carto I was dripping in the top as well as using the tank, just to make sure the filler stayed wet, and had good results, but now I just do an extra sharp draw or three (without pressing the button) now and then, which pulls a few extra drops into the carto through the hole. You should be able to see an air bubble come out of the hole if that is working. This seems to work well, though too many extra pulls like this and the carto will flood, and you'll have to blow out the juice. If it's flooded, the draw will get tight and you'll hear gurgling.

I'm on my 6th fill of a 3ml tank with the same single hole 1.5 ohm carto, using 50/50 juice, and the filler is looking a little dark, but it still tastes good, though I'm thinking one or two more fills and it might be done. I've been using it for about 2 weeks, so I guess that's pretty good. I might try cleaning it with vodka and/or boiling in distilled water, but at under three bucks a pop, it's probably not really worth it.

Again... you'll get a metallic taste if your device is flooded with juice. In simpler terms: blow out the cartomizer and thoroughly dry the fitting of your device. Reassemble and metallic taste will be gone

hey there, i had alot of the same problems when i first started to use tanks. bobas is one of if not my favorite juice and it makes wicking harder because it is 100% vg and so thick. one option is to punch alot more holes with a saddle valve, they are sold almost at every vender now but for a cheaper option just go to your local hardwhere store, but i find that no matter how many hole i'd punch i was still running into the same problem. so i started to use a rotory tool to cut slits in my cartos. now this improved the wicking problem but then is started to tear up my inner o rings because the slit edges were tearing them up. then my tank would just start dumping juice everywhere. what a mess. so the method i use today is i just use a high speed metal drill bit. like 3/32sd of and nich. plenty big enough. with a juice thats as thick as bobas i'll drill two hole other mixes i'll just make the one. that takes care of it. it's a little tricky to hold the carto firm and definetly not as easy as punching or slitting, but i found for me to be the best way to solve wicking issues and leaking issues together. my cartos with last more then a week. i usually can vape an entier 30 ml bottle and if its still performing good i'll was it out and use it again. by the way i only use boge lr or smoktek lr cartos, best in my opinion.

I will definitely try that out first, if that doesn't work i will have to experiment with punching my own holes with different numbers and sizes to get the right combination.

I started to have better luck with them but I had to turn my provari down to 2.9 volts other wise it was burning the carto and not wicking fast enough . Now it is fine . The carto turned out to be a really low LR carto . I have some slightly higher resistance ones I will try next .

While I agree that this would resolve a "burnt" taste that one might get, it won't resolve the metallic taste aalwani is experiencing
