also, i strongly believe there should be no pictures posted without text. i always wonder what people think when they stop by and see picture after picture without a word of explanation.

Yup! No pictures without text. And please, NO PICTURES when a prevet (or somebody else) stops by to ask questions or tries to have a conversation! Please! I've seen it happening over and over again: a new person posts something and it is followed by two pages of pictures. It's very difficult to have a conversations like this, or to follow a conversations when one tries to back read. Also, do we really need to have hundreds of pictures for every turning? Starting a day before the turning? I always felt that most of the pictures should go to the welcome threads... Sorry 'bout the rant. [Mooooom, Tibs started it!!!!!!

Not sure about oodles of prizes, though. It's fine to mention that it makes them eligible for contests--but I would stop there.
I like the two together, gives people lots of ways to think about it without making it a check list.
My only suggestion would be to say "other" fun ideas instead of "more" fun ideas...only because my weird twisted brain turned into meaning the second set of ideas was "more fun"
I think less is more. We're dealing with adults here. A few suggestions are fine, but I wouldn't make a very long list.
And on the subject of themes, and to address Atty's concerns about themes being intimitading to some, is there anything that prevents us from holding an "avatar party" or "turning party" without a theme? Why don't we offer that as an option? As long as they show up on the PreVets for the turning, we can have a nice gathering, fireworks and everything else. We don't have to have a theme, do we????
