So, just to clarify B means that if someone selects a welcome thread only, but then shows up at their turning, they are still not eligible for the GP. C means that if someone elects a welcome thread and then shows up they are eliglbe. both B and C require the person to celebrate their turning time, and both include the ability to reschedule. A is the only one that doesn't require presence on the thread for the actual moment of turning)

Tibs, I'm clarifying...i can still edit if the choices change with clarification

OK in that case I'm changing to C.

This is all just another example of why I selected "not required". lol.

Even we require clarifications... and we run the things. Too hard to explain and inforce and ....whatever.

Not that I want to engage in voter biasing or anything. :D

c shouldn't be hard to pinpoint, atty - anybody who hangs out with us during their turning is eligible and the kiss principle is in effect for choosing turning times - no explanations or excuses required

Vote early and vote often! ;)

My dear committee!!!! I think we're slowly going back to what we have now!!! I have this sinking feeling that we don't quite understand our own new rules--I know I didn't and totally goofed...

    Let's try again.

This is re. avatar parties only--welcome thread rules have been nailed (sort of.) People who have welcome threads qualify for grand end-of year contest and the monthlies--yes or no???? I thought they did!

Avatar parties no longer are required to qualify for grand contest.

Option C, however, is good, if we can offer a bonus end-of-year drawing for those who attended their turning--either welcomes or avatar parties. This is going to be in addition to the grand drawing for all the welcome thread people. Every new vet who attends their turning--on time, forum time or the time they choose--is eligible for the bonus (party) drawing... However, they have to show up on time and be present for the turning.. No exceptions, this is gravy...

    Am I making myself clear????

Bingo! Welcome threads qualify for grand contest, turnings qualify eveyone who attends for an extra bonus drawing--no flexibilty, no exceptions. I really feel very strongly that people with welcome threads should qualify for grand contest, the "turners" qualify for the bonus drawing.

avatar party always is combined with welcome thread and if they are at their turning they get both - monthly and grand

Yeah, but quit quoting me when I spell "enforce" wrong Tibby! ;)

OK point taken. I know you guys want incentive. What we're likely to get is a bunch of "welcome thread only ... not even themed" and a few of those showing up at the turning time. So mostly a bunch of "congrats" posts. So I'd rather not have to twist their arm with a G.P. carrot just to have to say "congrats" in real time when I already said it in the thread.

If they want a themed celebration and can make the turning, all planned ahead of time because they WANTED to... I love that. That's fun.

    But:
    x:24 "Hi I;m here"
    (fireworks)
x:26 "Oh gee...thanks, I'll go enter the contest now. I get entry into G.P. too, right? Bye"

meh. No theme. Not pre-planned. Already had all our welcome's in the welcome thread. Just doing it for the contest. Didn't care.

OK, got the notes from people who are here at the moment.

Bottom line so far is that most people want the welcome thread started prior to turning, and that self started welcome threads will not be eligible for the contest at all. Welcome threads need to be in the new vets forum, and if started by a vet who is not usually part of PVT there needs to be at least one introductory post in PVT for the thread to be eligible for the monthly contest.

Not surprisingly, the question of whether to require an avi party for eligibility for the GP drawing remains open, and if so whether someone who requested a welcome thread and shows up for the fireworks anyway is eligible for the GP drawing....However, if being there for the fireworks ends up being an eligibility requirement for the GP drawing then turning times can be rescheduled without penalty.

that is worth considering and would keep the current marking system in effect and valid -

But that's what I'm proposing to change... welcomes qualify for monthlies and grand, those who attend their turnings get an extra bonus drawing... Makes sense???? No???

currently welcome threads do NOT qualify for the GP drawing.

the idea of a bonus drawing is a good one. If i understand it, all eligible welcome threads would qualify for the GP drawing and there would be an additional bonus drawing for those that attended pre-planed avi parties..(sort of an A and B compromise) . If we end up going for this - and it may be the way to break the tie, then we will need j0ker's agreement to add an additional bonus drawing.

(did y'all read my summary above of the consensus so far?)
