tweety - do you know what exactly joker's mini contests are?

everybody can participate, old , new - no matter! i get the notification from joker when he starts a new one. there's been a variety - first right answer, random drawings, etc. those are open to all who are interested and the prize is one entry in the 2012 monthly contests.
mastiffmike by now has garnered 2 entries already ....... ;)

No1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. to get a thread, all that is needed is to ask for one or have an ecf vet start it in the new vets forum prior to turning. (In practice it has always come through PVT. )

No2. avatar party- must request and be present on the PVT thread at the exact time that they joined, any deviations from the original timing results in disqualification from the entry for the grand prize.

Options for what we want

1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. Eligible threads will be in the new vets forum prior to turning. The welcome thread request comes through PVT, in the form of 1 post minimum in PVT
a. choose between 'prior to' turning or 'within 24 hours of' turning
b. choose can or Cannot be self started

2. Options for Avatar parties:

A. Not required for entry into prize drawing

BB. Required for entry into prize drawing, time can be scheduled without penalty
a. choose between must be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, or must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning
b. choose between exceptions can be made and exceptions cannot be made if circumstances warrant I.e. military service, illness, emergency, internet problems

XC. Anybody with either a welcome thread or avi party who is present at the fireworks is eligible for the grand prize drawing
a. choose between must be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, or must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning

b. choose between exceptions can be made and exceptions cannot be made if circumstances warrant I.e. military service, illness, emergency, internet problems

My choices are in BLUE. Hope this is what you guys are wanting. :)

[YES--maybe--would be nice. Latecomers will be considered for the welcome thread and contest eligibility if they report to PVT within a certain time frame--J0ker suggested 1 month. Everyone who joined in 2011 is eligible for the monthly contests? I'm really not quite sure about the rules and the difference between the minis and the monthlies--but I would like to offer something for every 2012 vet and a bit more for the 2012 vet who particiates in PVT in some form. You figure it out--I'm too confused ATM.]

I need to get out more...

Hi Everyone!!

Ok if I don't do this right, let me know! (....thanks for letting me join in the vote :) You can see by my replies that I am more on the lenient side, but I also remember when I turned I would have been at work so I didn't log in and waited so I can do my coundown with all my PVT friends! I joined on a Sunday but as you know a year later the turning was on a Monday, so I think since people don't know when they join here that a year later this all happens, I feel giving a little leeway here and there can make a lot of difference. :)

I've saved this wording, but please mark the location of this post....I've also read back through what got posted as i typed this up...agreed, no formal "poll". I still like the least restrictive option- because I'm lazy, though Tibs could well be right. Good points Catt. Atty I you too)

Preliminary count
Ok, I went back through the forms and I THINK I got everyone’s intentions.

Fran, Whiskey, Morri, and Starry I’m not sure whether I got yours right.for number two you need to choose between options A, B and C. Ok I’m not completely sure that I got anyone’s right, except possibly my own. So check it carefully. I saved the entire post as a word document so can correct and repost

Here’s restatement of the options as written, and I just pulled out the parts that people highlighted in red and pasted them into quotes to set them apart…

This really is preliminary till we know whether I actually got the selections right.

full statement of options for what we want

1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. Eligible threads will be in the new vets forum prior to turning. The welcome thread request comes through PVT, in the form of 1 post minimum in PVT
a. choose between 'prior to' turning or 'within 24 hours of' turning
b. choose can or cannot be self-started

2. Options for Avatar parties:

A. Not required for entry into prize drawing

ETA: So, just to clarify B means that if someone selects a welcome thread only, but then shows up at their turning, they are still not eligible for the GP. C means that if someone elects a welcome thread and then shows up they are eliglbe. both B and C require the person to celebrate their turning time, and both include the ability to reschedule. A is the only one that doesn't require presence on the thread for the actual moment of turning)

Catt:
KISS -
1. can be self-started within 24 hrs of turning
2. Avatar party not required for entry into prize drawing.

CES
1. Prior to, cannot be self started (note, this is a change from original post)
2. A. Not required for entry into prize drawing
(C is second choice, with flexible turning times)

Atty
1. prior to, not self- started
2. Grand Prize eligibility same as monthly contests.

Tibs
1. prior to' turning, cannot be self-started
2. C. Anybody with either a welcome thread or avi party who is present at the fireworks is eligible for the grand prize drawing must be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, turning times can be postponed

Whiskey
Yes to #1
#2 C. required but with flexible turning time

Got it :)

Nat
1. Prior and CANNOT be self started
2.C. Must be present, but time can be scheduled without penalty

Katya

1. initially prior to, can be self started but ONLY after obtaining approval in the PVT thread--for those who were not invited but discovered on their own that they had turned vet in 2012
Was changed to prior to and cannot
2. A. Not required for entry into prize drawing
(C. is second choice, must be present at time of turning)

Fran
1. prior to, Cannot be self started
2. C

(got it )

Morri
1. prior to, Cannot be self started
2. B. Required for entry into prize drawing, time can be scheduled without penalty. must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning, exceptions can be made

(updated to reflect B for #2 :) )

Starry
1. I think within 24 hours of turning, I think can be self started.
2. ??? must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning, exceptions can be made

(i couldn't tell whether you chose a, b, or c from #2. )

since there seems to have been some confusion as to #2
there were three main choices as they apply to avatar parties and entry to grand prize drawing

1. not required
2. required but with flexible turning time
3. everybody - welcome thread or party -who is present at the turning time is eligible - turning time is flexible

frannie, starry and whis - take another look

morning, y'all and thank you, ces! ;)
