ok - no idea why i decided to go through all of this one more time but it seemed necessary, lol
and here are the highlights

I'm trying to keep my input on this on low.
Just keep in mind, when next year comes up, I will be more involved. In fact once we (you) get what you want for this one, I will start a thread in the Library Annex to get this started. And yes, like Whiskey, I have changed my mind but only about the contest. Get through the changes first before this proceeds and even then we will have plenty of time to discuss the how-to of PreVets.

Please keep your voices down to a whisper because, after all, you'll be in a library.

this ^^^ to me, is a clear indicator we should only concern ourselves with getting through the rest of the year and still have fun with it. unfortunately, we were under the wrong impression for the first 6 month of how this was supposed to have worked. no vote was ever taken.

Another problem I'd like to see a solution for once this is set.

Going in and marking those threads is irritating. For me for having to do and to others because they have to look at them.

If you make a mistake, then you have time (two days I think), to go back and change it. If it runs later then tell me what change is needed and I'll take care of it.

Thank you. :)

marking the threads had been instituted by jj all along and is beyond our scope. a thread title can be edited for only a few minutes - verified by classy and my own experience.

I check those several times a day. The outside of PVT were opened in plenty of time for me to check the members profile.

Basically adding more rules is why this wasn't publicized. It's a good one since it picks up people who don't want a lot of hoopla.
Option here that gives me plenty of time: Stipulate the thread has to be open 3 -5 days before the join date?

it seems that jj is in favor of us to, at the least, include a request for sponsoring vets and/or their prevets to stop by pvt and inform us of their intentions

I agree. Let's not change more than is absolutely necessary--for the remainder of the year. Next year, if there is a contest, we can start from scratch based on our experience this year.

^^^^^^^^ this i pulled just for my tweety as a friendly reminder! ;) tweety, if you'll forget again i come after you with a frying pan.

i'm hoping the above we'll help us concentrate on what is best for pvt and not worry our heads about what might or might not happen in the future. our main goal should be the tweaking of existing rules where we can get back to the fun part of pvt .....

I need to ask a question that is off-topic and just for me.

I have quite a lot of pics in my photobucket... Is it ok to delete some of them or will they disappear here too?

Inquiring minds gots ta know.

If you delete them (or in fact move them so that the photobucket link is changed) then I am about 90% certain that it would break the link and the picture will no longer show anywhere you linked to it!

EDIT: *goes back to lurking in the shadows since Whis responded first...* ;)

Whiskey's posting....>

I am Glad you brought this up again, because I look at JJ's post and scratch my head because her post sounds like she is taking charge of Pre-vets for next year as well....tell me I am reading it wrong??? If thats what she is meaning I have a big problem with that...wait...not big, but HUGE problem.

For those you don't want to keep in your Photobucket acct, try using TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting

I use it for avatars with text on it. I soon realized that I'd have pictures out the ying-yang which means that I'd eventually run out of room.
And once I linked it to the forum, I couldn't move the pictures to organize things.

no, whis - you're reading wrong! jj intends to expand the contest next year to include more vets - which is fine. it remains to be seen if pvt will remain a part of it.
i only posted this to make it clear we need to concentrate on pvt and the upcoming 6 months because anything after that is up in the air!

I got RW issues I'm having to deal with and was on the phone and in a rush because I needed to get out the door when I said that....
And truthfully am still in a defensive mode. I wouldn't know why.

I meant I'd have a thread to keep an updated version---one I could update so it was at the top all the time since it will be a project worked on for months. Whether is it discussed here or over there, makes no difference to me. I'd prefer here to keep the other thread on topic. I would appreciate it if the major points were posted there. Here they are buried quickly.

Everything I say IS NOT set in gold.

My input will be about the working end of this after it's set. Hopefully get some thoughts from all of you on how to cut the work required after the party is over. Doing that now would be nice too. :)

Nitpicking is not going to help anything now or later because I will be more involved in the discussion since I'm the one that deals with the results. I'd appreciate if you took that into consideration. Please. :)

As I said before I love PVT and it SHOULD be part of it. Basically any other ideas will be to pick up "the missed" and pick up interest in the the contest.

For now floor this so you can get a completion on what you are dealing with now.

I do not choose to place a vote that counts CES as I do not see myself as a member of the committee! I placed my earlier comments only because there was a request for input from people's opinions that had not been previously involved in the process seeking a fresh perspective.

*Returns to lurking in the shadows*

your feedback is still important, especially since you have a fresh perspective and are an incoming yet. If it would make you feel better we can promise to ignore your vote ;)

And I would call your comments like these as posturing, just an observation & opinion of which I am entitled to here as well. I will sit back in the corner now.

And a good afternoon in here...

*back to my corner*

haha! but i knew there was a reason why i was so completely taken by surprise ........

on a good note, having prevets and their vet sponsors stop by pvt seems to be a desired feature on both, pvt and contest, sides .....

CES... but wouldn't that make me a regular member of the committee!

J/K ALL!!!!!! J/K!!!

Seriously though... I admit to lurking here... but the only major problems I saw (could still potentially be an issue) are how you deal with a time that is convenient for one part of the equation... (either PVT committee person OR the member turning to Veteran) but not for both. ;) The second is explaining the forum mechanics necessary for rescheduling to a member that wishes to do so... that is going to be extremely tricky... particularly for those people not very technical in nature!

There are many different ways to get around that, so I am simply watching to see what happens after providing the outside input that was requested.

allazar - we have postponed before and prevets understood they had to stay logged off ecf ......

so far, we have always had a crew online during turnings but some days it was nerve-wrecking. we pretty much can cover any time except for a few hours between 1am and 5am eastern .....

CAN... is not the same as optimal for you guys... I used to work for a company (Origin systems) that had many online volunteers that provided assistance to other players online. Many of those volunteers would burn themselves out (even though it was doing something they enjoyed) due to the pressure of having to be somewhere at scheduled times... I do not want to see you guys do the same to yourselves... and the discussion sounds as if many of you have been over the first 6 months of the year.

However, I really AM trying not to post much in here, because other than one turning (my own) I do not have to live with the results... and quite frankly... I am more interested in the party and thread (I think my wife will love looking at the pictures) than I am interested in the contest entry/entries. :D

owie. OK the ones here are safe and I won't move them, but I need to find a better way to organize them for the future, because they are just
ALL OVER THE FREAKING PLACE!!! In my photobucket account, that is. LMAO

p.s. thought we were going to have a nice, quiet day in here.... What happened?

Hi Morri, if you delete any used here from PB, yes they will disappear from the threads & posts you used them in.
