Hi mate,

Unfortunately the only fix is to send it to Nighthawk.

JK..I am assuming it's the SuperT flat button and not the aftermarket? Sounds like your spring is bent somehow.

LOL thanks for the reply bro. Heres a pic of my Button.

Hey guys, is this the right place to ask troubleshooting questions? I have the flat bottom on my ELA. Every now and then it gets hot. My cousins said he even saw little sparks right now after i took a hit. I made sure i dont have any shorts on my build. Im running a Dual Micro coil patriot. Any info is appreciated. Thank you!

Also with the flat bottom, the button gets stuck on firing when i release every so often. HELP PLEASE!

Sounds like its arcing. Just give all the ELA parts a nice bath, and by that I mean a full tear-down.

This is certainly the right place. Usually when the button gets hot and actually sparks its a hard short, and probably on the atomizer. A couple people have had that happen since ELAs went out. One person swore it could not be the build but it turned out it was. Im sure you have , but make sure you try the atty on another mod.

ALso , very important, do NOT screw your atty on too tight. Too tight will cause a hard short too. Best is to attach your atty, screw the contact up to it, then back it off a bit. Im sure David will chime in and give you expert advise. Just check and double check your atty and try not to screw it down to tight. Also make sure all is clean on your ELA. WHen or if your build is really low all things like dirt on the buttons or dirt on the locking ring can affect performance and cause heating.

Also last make sure your battery is not over drained which can cause similar symptoms and with real low resistance can be pretty fast. I hope this doesnt sound redundant.

I always back off the contact then screw it up to the atty. Maybe it's my build. Did you guys get to see the pic of my button? Also. How do you guys recommend I give it a bath?

Its been posted on a few pages back and others have posted how they clean theirs. There are also some photos that others have posted.

Here is what I posted a couple days ago.

I just take mine apart, soak in hottest tap water and soap. Make sure you have the sink plugged up or use a small strainer so little bits dont go down the drain. I then use a small soft tooth brush and or little tiny micro brushes to scrub the threads and inside. Take out , rinse, dry. If you have a blower go for it. THen I use high proof alchohol to swab and clean the threads, buttons etc. Very important areas are button and locking ring.

If you dont want to take the locking ring compression band off, use a q-tip to clean under and around the threads. Youd be surprised even after the bubble bath and scrubbing how much black muck comes off the locking ring and buttons.

Here are some photos of all the parts on the buttons:

I can't stress the importance enough on the 12 nude vixens when it comes to bathing the ELA. It also helps to have imported spring water from a hidden Tibetan temple hand carried by blind monks.

Come on guys, get with the program! If you are going to clean the ELA, do it right!!!!

I just hired a Personal Assistant. Now, you are telling me I have to hire some 'vixens' too? Nude? Hmm.. Hate to think, what that will cost me. :)

Cucco, don't pull the trigger on the vixens just yet. You mentioned earlier some people have a pool boy - ok, hold that thought. I see the opportunity for you to put yourself in the enviable position of being able to have weekly bachelorette group dates in the bathroom, one must not squander these opportunities.

LOL thanks everyone!! I'll give it a complete tear down bath today after work. One problem are those black rings around my button. Did any of you get to open up the picture i attatched a couple posts ago? I tried cleaning those yesterday and they wont come off. I think they are burn marks??? =(

Are you sure that those black marks aren't just the satin finish getting stripped off? I had similar markings on mine before I decided to strip the satin finish entirely from the button.

Looks to me like current has arced from the spring to the button. I think the more it is blemished, the more it is likely to arc due to diminished conductivity. No clue what caused the initial arcing (probably an atty short), but at this point it could be self-perpetuating.

Yeah, try a little rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, then Flitz or some sort of non-coating metal polish; or just take some 600 grit sandpaper to it.

That's what I was thinking when I looked last night. Just to make sure (I've done it once) your spring gets mounted on the top of the post, not under the button, right?

Out of curiosity, I decided to see if my center pins were interchangeable and they are not. I worry that if someday I want or need a new center pin for my original one that it may not fit. I also worry for those who got the new top cap. If they modify the center pin to work with the new top cap will it work with their original top cap and cover.

If I have to sent my original cap + center pin in to be modified so the pin fits the new cap, will it still fit the old cap correctly? I need this clarified before I can go forward:confused:

Still working on gap filling ideas but I did get my ELA, here's the proof ...

Running in 18650 mode with flat bottom button + solid top cap + extender tube + additional accent ring + kiklet + KFL + Tanbur. The gap is 1/8th inch exactly so I'm going to look at some SS washers and maybe even if a thin knurling ring exists to fill that space. If I find one I would put it at the kiklet end.
