Hey David, from what I have checked so far... I have one of my ELA Strata's that does not want to thread on one of my extension tubes. I have yet to check my second unit though. I'll report back when I can play with them. Just got home from work and apparently I have a dinner date. :)

How'd the date go? Some of the ELA tubes are hit or miss and tight, but most have put a dab of noalox on the threads and worked them back and forth on, give that a go and let me know what you find :)

Any production updates for the ELA's purchased in December? Thought it was 8-12 week ETA, I can't find the thread though...

I'll buy you a beer if I'm ever in the area. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when it comes to estimating ship times, but I can tell you. we are actually working on the very last batch of all ELA's (one big old batch of about 60). They HAVE to be a all out by the second week of April, so the excruciating pain is almost over...almost...

Cool! I can't wait to get my polished ELA. The satin one is nice but it's not the same as the polished one in all it's glory.

Oh, and I'd like the next run of ELA's to be made of Titanium with inlays of Tritium. How awesome would an ELA that glows in the dark on it's own be?

I would hate to see all the raver kids knocking other people out while twirling their ELA's around. *oontz oontz oontz OUCH!*

I'll give it a try. I have six total ELA tubes between my three ELA's. I just don't have much free time yet until this damn move is over this coming weekend.

I probably wont get around to it until after I'm settled in, so please treat my testing results in the same way we handle ship times! :)

EDIT: Dinner date was nice, some Japanese BBQ at the table with a beastly vape sidecar!

So for those having compression ring issues:

1. Clean the threads of the pieces that clamp the rings (the knurled piece and bottom tube). If any grit/dust/dirt get in there, you will struggle to get any grip at all. Be thorough.
2. Clean the contact of the ring thoroughly. I take the top tube out, fully clamp the knurled ring, and clean the ring with microfiber. If the ring doesn't respond to friction, I'll use any solvent I have at hand (vodka, lighter fluid, mineral spirits, denatured alcohol, etc.) and apply it on the microfiber cloth.
3. Thoroughly clean the top tube of the ELA (the part that the compression ring grips). Refer to step 2 if the tube is stubborn.

In my experience, dirty threads, a dirty ring, and a dirty top tube are the reasons why the ELA will slip. From what I can tell, too much tightening doesn't lead to slippage at all. It's all about how clean the contact points are.

Hey guys,

Quick question... I ordered the solid top-cap, but I'm having a problem threading the old center post into it. Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't cross-threaded it or anything that I know of... it's always been silky smooth into my old top-cap, but it doesn't want to go in the new one. I don't want to take a wrench to it just yet... Any suggestions?

Hi Kilowatts, Yes, some of the first Batch ELA center posts don't screw in on the new caps (later batches do). We will give you, free of charge, a new center post holder (the stainless screw in part), however, we do need your existing one back to press out the Rhodium plated center post and press it into your new post holder, as we don't have any spares of the center post's themselves.

Aha. I'll fire it out to you asap. What's the turnaround time?

I still need to test that. Ugh...

So much on my 'to do' list.... So little getting done....

Hi Dave,

I purchased the brass locking slide for the ELA (sucker for brass accents) and it is much smaller than my one that came with the ELA. Is there a way to get one that would fit. If you want I can send you a picture I took of it installed and you can clearly see a gap when it is installed.

I also wanted to say Thank You as my ELA is still going strong for almost a year now.
