@ Freckle I hear yah on that I have some remaining non American mods that were given to me by a good friend that will probably never be gotten rid of. Way to much sentimental value.

I was just thinking Id like a pair of the rings in Satin, but I dont see an option. I think I saw a post about the same thing and I think someone said that you order them in stainless and then add in the notes that you want them in Satin. Is this true, Id really love a pair in the Satin finish.

In fact, it's my understanding that, by default, the rings will match the PV. So if you ordered the ELA in satin, the rings will be too... Assuming of course that you ordered ss rings... I don't think there is an option for satin/brass at this time.

Well, i'm about to make the leap into RBAs myself and i tend to run 2 mods with two flavors at once. so my ELA with a crown and i was thinking a lower priced VV like the vamos. something i can also test ohms so i can get the RBAs right.
May I suggest a Zmax, if a Provari is too expensive. Preferably the new telescopic V3 version

Correct. With the exception of brass, all brass rings will come "polished" (400 grit) by default is the plan.

Absolutely correct on Silver. In no way should silver be used in a mechanical mod. Four reasons:
1. It is a very high rate of tarnish/oxidization/corrosion even faster then raw brass (which unplated brass should never be used either as it exhibits many of the same pitfalls as silver). Any gains seen with its high conductivity are immediately lost as it immediately starts oxidizing/tarnishing after a cleaning.
2. Silver is extremely soft at approximately 250-300 knoop hardness rating (Rhodium has an 800 knoop hardness rating). Even with a thicker plating (which is relative when plating metals, they are ALL extremely thin, often .0001 or less thick). Silver will wear through to bare metal in a much shorter time and even quicker as you constantly have to clean it to keep the contacts corrosion free.
3. Low Melting point and extremely susceptible to electrical arcing due to its low melting point (electrical arcing is a big factor in DC circuits as electrical arcing causes pitting and oxidizations (usually seen as little black specs in the plating) and degrades the electrical connection
4. Susecptible to many cleaning chemicals and readily dissolves in acids.
Cost Per ounce: Silver $30.00 per ounce. Rhodium $1400.00 per Ounce
Just my opinion here, it would still be worth it. I have looked at a ton of telescoping mods and they don't compare.
Peoples huge rage right now is over the polidac (not sure about the spelling), with silver pins. I keep thinking in my head how fast silver tarnishes. They all talk about the hit and how great it is. Don't get me wrong the mod looks awesome. You could pick one up for about 160 euros (about 218 usd) before shipping while they were on sale. I personally do not own a silver tea set, but my mother did. I would polish that tea set and make it look oh so pretty, within a week it was already starting to look grey (oxidized) again.
Of course that is just one reason to go for the ELA, the main reason for me at least.
