then tell us your healthcare plan........open to ideas, and your ideas dont have to be perfect.
I got nothing on that one, I was referring to the taxation of bad behavior or life choices, separate issue than health care. The taxes taken in never go towards the healthcare costs, they just get spent in the general funds. I used to like my group plan that I had through my employer, it was affordable and I could choose my doctor.

the ceo's of the healthcare ins co's got richer with o-care,, so did the bio/pharms gang.........that's where the $$$$$$$ went.
Did you read all the revisions?

What we got wasn't what was originally written.

Republicans made sure of that.

Now everyone who hasn't read a single written revision nor the original thinks they know how we got here.

News flash...

The media we depend on to report to us what's written lies through their teeth... on both sides.

I've not met a single person who actually knows what they're spewing when it comes to the ACA.

Only those who know what garbage the media spoke and what their premiums are.

Most don't even understand their coverage.

And that includes those nearing retirement age where you'd think they'd pay attention.

all i know is what was presented was not going to work for our family and we kept trying,, gave up and decided to pay the fine and continue with self pay medical costs.

you want to eat a bit healthier,,,,,,,when you go to the grocery store,, only walk around the outer walls.....that is where your fresh foods are. if you want to take it a step further,,,,,find a couple of items you can grow at home.. heck we live in a condo and still manage to grow tomatoes. when we lived in a normal city house we grew a huge garden on the side of the house (50x4),,,,,,we grew more than we could eat.

look at your packagings.. GMO=not good,, but likely still has roundup pesticide in the box.

The problem is that "back in the day" a trip to the ER didn't cost tens of thousands of dollars and drugs didn't cost tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

You end up paying for others' medical costs like it or not. You can pay for their insurance or you can pay for their trip to the ER in the form of higher medical costs and/or taxes. Preventative measures are usually cheaper.

Not all drugs cure, some just increase ones quality of life.

"99% of our health problems likely related to the products/foods/drugs we consume.........so we should be taxing the bad stuff like junkfood/fastfood/beer etc"

Yes, many, health issues are self-inflicted, and promoting healthier lifestyles is definitely something we should be doing, but I'd like to see where you got that 99%. That sounds rather high to me.
Let's not get into the fact that Americans pay the corporate profits, the research and more profits, plus the cost of our drugs and machinery...

And the cost for several 3rd world countries.

And the rest of the world only pays for the drugs and services they receive.

My dad told me a couple months ago he found some drug his insurance was paying $100.00+ per pill being sold for under $20.00 for a script of 100 pills in another country.

So far all I can tell Trump wants to do is give these fat cats tax breaks.

I would rather see it based on incidents of bad behavior. Every time your child does something stupid your taxes go up. Now there's an idea.
I don't care what the IQ of my students are, but I would like to see them with more civility

How about instead of a Tax Deduction for Children, we put a Extra Tax on every Child a couple has? That could be a shot in the arm for a Broke Educational System.

There's just All Kinds of things a Government could do once we start Sliding Down that Tax Slope.

between here and there
agree,,,,,,,,,,,and the plan has always been right in front of us.....tax the crap in our diets......taking soda/chips/candy , beer, fastfood/junkfood.......heck even gmo/roundup foods as well would pay for everyone's healthcare. we are the crap we consume. taxing that stuff is a major start. it would likely 'thin up America' as time goes on,,,,,,our genetics are less burdened in each following generation reducing healthcare as we go.

someone argued with me about alcohol being on the list,,,,,,,i pointed out rehab costs, dui/deaths and liver problems.........havent heard back from him
It is this kind of thinking that literally scares the crap out of me......very slippery slope. I will not allow someone else to direct my life in this manner........what's next. I can only breathe between the hours of 3-6 pm on Weds and Saturdays?
I would start with the companies that add all the artificial crap to the processed foods, etc. Get them to get their acts together. Not everyone can grow gardens or has the desire to do so for a whole host of reasons. If we were all the same it would definitely be a boring place.
I could argue that the injustice in taxation has gone on far beyond and before my lifetime but why waste my time. I don't like that I have to pay taxes on educating everyones elses kid when I don't have any of my own, but to what end? So my point is we all have things we feel are unjust and unfair. That is called life and we deal with it. Period. Pick the battles where you stand a chance of winning or at least being heard. All else is wasting time and energy.
And no, I will not be posting any more on this subject. Sorry if any are offended, that is not my intent. Simply pointing out just how slippery the slope is.

you have to start small,, i think we already have a couple of cities trying it out.......start with soda/chips/candy bars. then every 3 years (or whatever) add to the list.

pick an ailment and target it,,ie,, obesity or diabetes.. thats like a 2 for 1. it cant hurt anyone except the 'dealers' of those products...those who consume those products will then be able to finance some of their healthcare impact the same as the smokers had to do. they are not being denied the op to consume,, they just have to pay for it.

I'm from Mexico and I think your observation regarding the tax on certain high calorie foods is not enough understood. That tax is an absurd pseudo-remedy to a more deep problem which for one side is that most of our people don't have the education to develop healthier habits, BUT the main and most important reason for the over weight problems is that high-calorie, high-carb mass produced food products are much, much cheaper than healthier foods. It is way cheaper for someone here to buy a liter of soda than a liter of milk. So in many ways it is the poverty of our people the main cause of its overweight. Another proven cause is the use of corn fructose instead of sugar which is also a problem you have in US

That high calorie tax only made the corporations to sweet their products with artificial non calorie sweeteners but that kind of food is still being sold.

That tax is a complete failure as it hasn't been able to reduce the amount of soda being drink in this country.

Sin taxes are only another intrusion of the government in any country to impose the particular points of view of it's officials, and even though may have some desired effect they impoverish the citizens

And there has never been a tax drop in fresh food because it has never been taxed. The tax you must be referring is the VAT tax which since its inception in the early 80s established a 0 tax in fresh food

Just wanted to clarify your post and beg the others your pardon as I think it is off topic

The problem here is that food = corporations.

Corporations = highest yield, lowest price and most appeal.

Highest yield and lowest price = least healthy and most toxic.

Eliminate the corporations, put real food back into reach of the consumer and I GUARANTEE YOU EVERY citizen knows how to make a healthy meal.

Show me someone who can't cook an egg and make a salad.
