Gdeal, why is it that we cannot choose a color for the internals?.... I would like to order it in a silver instead of a white. The outside body and trim ring can of course be changed for any color but wanting to order the internals in 'Metallic Plastic' color.

I didnt think anybody wanted another color than white for the internals....lol...

Ok, A Metallic Plastic Internally Assembly has been uploaded to Shapeways. I needed to change some dimensions to meet their requirements for this material...so it has its own separate part. Custom made for you rogue007. :)

Interesting what you can get if you mix and match bits:

The assembly at the bottom of the picture is dimensionally correct to flush-mount an atty on the original 510 insert at the top of the picture, and the screw is an off-the-shelf vented screw. Of course one could shorten the original delrin insulator correspondingly, but I've been reluctant to do that because it's not threaded all the way back, which means there would be precious few threads remaining on it. Now the insulator for the newer FD 510 is threaded further back.

Wait, you wanted a place to make a solid electrical connection to the actual center-pin rather than just the brass sleeve it floats in? Sheesh!

Why do I not have much faith in the tubing staying put on that either?

Looks like it will need a SS tube down the middle and then a mini o-ring or two around the ss tube and then silicone tubing over that might do the job. Seems a bit complex.....

Ok....I have been super busy and just speed read from post 490

Couple things I can comment on.

- I can say 100% for sure the new DNA has built in RP protection (but I can't or wont say anything else)

- Yes Fat Daddy is very open to suggestions, and I talked to him in length after he released the new longer/hollow pins. I believe he is working a completely new 510 to go along with the retro fit BF dripper conversion kit he is working on.

My biggest suggestion to him was to try to keep the path from the bottle to the atty as close to 2mm diameter as possible. I have found that 2mm makes for nice and easy and quick squonk squeeze.

I just got the replacement longer/hollow pins today so I was going to try and play around with them a little bit tonight.

Effing Vapage sent me someone elses order and has basically been MIA from multiple calls/emails/etc......The stuff I got was actually quite a bit more than what I ordered money wise....but I want my GD 9ml bottles :D

Blame me.... I've been pestering the bejeebers out of him with ideas... and getting more frantic as my SW ship date approaches....

Also remember, fatdaddy is working on a SS tubing delivery system for these new center pins with an adapter at the end, I believe.

Here is my first go at using the new hollow center pin.

I used the indoor lathe (drill and Dremel) to grind down a 14g hypo needle so it just slips through the pin. I wanted some sticking out the top (but probably not that much, I will probably trim it), then I was thinking I would drill out the atty center pin a little so the protruding needle stuck up into the atty center pin just a bit to eliminate as much contact with the brass as possible.

This seems to work ok so far except the tube doesn't fit extremely tight around the 14g needle.

So I might make something completely different .....but I wanted to try something that most could replicate.

BTW if you didn't notice, I also used a cut down original FD510 with the guts from a new FD510 and the longer/hollow center pin.

I know the pics are huge.....sorry :D
