Had this prototype version of a v3.1 squonker sitting in a box from the summer. Since it finally got the paint job it deserves (Titanium Blue Cerakote by Baps), and I had a DNA40 just staring at me....I thought what the heck. Slightly bigger than the v3.1, but it has a much less complex internal frame and was slightly easier to assemble. Same hardware, except for the battery leaf contact.

I have mixed emotions about this. That is soooo cool! Simply gorgeous! But then again, I had all the printed parts to make 2 more of the first V3.1 and you go and do this? Scrap 1 and wait patiently (impatiently....must wait quietly) for this to go up on SW so that I can order one.

so is this V3.2?

BTW, what metal is the base, ring & button? It almost looks silver. If so, its gonna be spendy.

Awesome! Do you know if it was sanded before painting?

I want to tweak a couple parts and I'll put it up on Shapeways. Mainly its just up sizing the metal ring slightly (Shapeway consistently printed them too tight)
With steel, I have to agree. But the dimensions on polished brass and polished sterling rings were pretty good.

But it really is a different animal.....The button, ring and base are steel and its pricey for metal parts. And the endcap is a big thick heavy part, so its uber $$.
Worst than these?

Didn't think so.

But it came out really good, so I wanted to be able to share it if anyone was interested.
It is really cool, but I really like the 3.1's the light weight. It doesn't drag my shirt pocket down too much. :D

Oh, and somehow I can't help but think you've got the Deans connectors in backwards. Shouldn't the sockets go on the (potential) voltage source and the plugs go the load?

I had mixed emotions about posting it too. This is the "V4B". I wasnt going to show it because I know a lot of people have V3.1 And now I feel like crap. :( Thanks. :D JK

But it really is a different animal.....The button, ring and base are steel and its pricey for metal parts. And the endcap is a big thick heavy part, so its uber $$. Plus the body is now much denser with more material and material is another factor for how they price. The v3.1 is already expensive in plastic IMO and I am not sure if people are going to be that interested once they see what shapeways charges for printing metal.

But it came out really good, so I wanted to be able to share it if anyone was interested.

Yep, that's what I was hoping they would look like. I'm getting mine Cerakoted. I'm happy with my black detail button and ring, but THAT is what I want the shell to look like. (one in that color even)

Thank you very much for the photos gdeal. Looks wonderful.

exactly! ;) but let's get off those bottom feeders already and work on some side by sides :p - there's so much more to vaping than squonkers :D

What and go back to tanks or dripping? Tanks are mechanically over-complicated, with lots of potential points of failure to seal, and even when they're working perfectly, they're sensitive to changes in temperature or altitude. Drippers are simple enough, but tedious to use.

However, if you want a conventional side-by-side, I'm confident gdeal could whip one up for you. :)
