I just stuffed mine with newspaper and masking tape, much less trouble

It really isn't any trouble once you get down a process that works for you. I can put it together in minutes and the residue washes out quick. Plus i like to be able to stick my top and bottom parts together so the pattern is continuous. Easy to setup which holes have paint and which do not. Lastly it holds the stick i dunk with easily and adds weight to mod so it won't float up if it gets loose.......lol.

So Valheli, what all colors have you tried for making a wood like patter? Never fails, those experiments are on my rework pile.

I just put two tiny drops of superglue to make the top cap stick. The newspaper expands when wet and increases the friction against the plastic fork I use for a handle. As for the wood version, I just did a layer of brown, yellow (mixed with a little brown), and highlight it with black swirl with a touch of orange.

actually, if i do decide to try the sponge method, i'm just going to sponge over the top of where it is right now. i don't see why i would need to strip it.

Most of the time my swirls turn out bad, I wipe it with acetone to the point where the colors mix and do a rag effect with the cotton pads. That crappy mess then becomes my base color and I start layering swirls on top of it. You'll be surprised with the results.

LOL, so true how often that happens. Here is one that ran together, but I took a paper towel and blotted it. I ended up loving the color. Not a BF, so sorry in advance.

Totaled up the parts list and its sitting at $85 without shipping. When I only need $11 worth of the parts. Bummer.

Is anyone sitting on a bunch of these nuts and other items that have to be bought in bulk in which they are willing to sell?
I'd snag some sets off you to offset the cost... I'm sure others would too.....

I am also willing to snag 3-4 setups from you as well. Always nice to have extra parts laying around.

I haven't bought them yet. I guess if there was enough interest I would buy all of it and ship out to those looking for parts. I guess that's what the coop is tho.
I need to find my checkbook so I can get verified. Lol

You have any pics of the "play dough" method?

Here is one more pic of the mod I applied poly to today. Yeah, not a mech, but it was the version I am currently building. Doing another mech later this week. If I remember, will try and grab a couple of pics of the raw mod with play dough in it, before dunking it in the paint spa!
