Hi,
I have been using smoktech locking dcts with the 2.0 and 2.5 smoktech cartomizers for a while now and have loved them. Recently I purchesed a prive tank for my provari and have tried bogs and smoktech carts both punched and self-punched and am getting a weird taste when using this tank (totally different from my dcts). Has anyone experienced this and what would be the best way to clean it to get rid of this?

Thanks in advance

i doubt it is the tank, did you rinse it out well when you got it? I always wash my new tanks with hot water and tiny bit of soap. I have a lot of Kir fanis tanks and never had a problem. The tank just hold the juice and in no way affects the performance or taste of a cartomizer. I could be wrong, but unless there is a problem with that particular carto. Have you tried another carto just to make sure you dont have a a dud carto?

If you look at the description of the Kir Fanis tanks it says to wash them before use. Maybe when they machine the tank there is a bit of residue?

I have tried about 7 different cartos from different both boge and smoktech. I did was it in warm water with a little bit of soap. I did just notice now that you pointed out that they suggested using vinegar when washing for the first time, wonder why that is?
Vinegar will wash away quite a bit easier than soap, while doing the same job (breaking up any leftover machining oils or residue).
I also have 4 Kir Fanis tanks - no issues with flavors here. I'd say to give it another go, really rinsing the crap out of it and letting it dry for a few hours before filling. Hope it works out for you!

Would you happen to be using one of the flavors that can crack, melt, or etch the plastic tube? These are generally flavors like cinnamon, citrus, or cola flavors, but can be other flavors you wouldn't think fits in this category. Any change in the appearance of the juice while in the tank? Etching can be a delayed process that takes some time.

Check out this blog article that I wrote concerning this topic, with a link to a list of flavors known to cause this:

It probably IS the tank.....PMMA which the tube in a Prive is made from has different characteristics than polypropylene.

I use a peach flavored 90 percent vg juice that spider-webbed that tube in less than 5 minutes and was fine in a normal old J-tank. Check the tube against the light to see if its getting cloudy and if it is throw it away.

Yet I've had Ms. T's Snickerdoodle (on the crack list) in my Trap Tank (PMMA) for 10-11 days now with narry an issue.

Ok, well after trying it for a bit it was better after soaking in vinegar but still had a slight funny taste. So I did what was suggested on hoosier's site for their tanks even though it was different

If your tank has an acrylic smell or taste to it follow these instructions.
Soak your top and bottom cap in mouthwash, the blue, cheap, generic works just great.
Use a small bowl and just cover the tank. Swish the tank around a few times during this soak.
Soak for about 1-2 hours. You may see some small dust flecks in the bottom of the bowl. Use a
thin pipe cleaner to get any dust out of the center hole or any grooves. Do not use Listerine brand
mouthwash. It is too harsh and can damage your finish. Just a normal mint mouthwash with alcohol
works well without damaging the finish.

Rinse your tank in warm water.

Soak the tank again for another 1-2 hours in white vinegar. Again, swish occasionally.

Rinse your caps with warm soapy water. Any smell or taste should now be gone.

This worked wonderfully, I can now happily say there is no more weird taste when using this tank so I am assuming it had some type of residue on it.
