One day years ago I was told that they had a thermometer in the casting pit, on a over 100 degree day, it read 140
Oof! My dad used to work at Thermos - similar conditions, and you worked bathed in sweat. Trouble was all those little particles of glass would drift into your skin, then it would get sealed there as you cooled down. Definitely a hell on earth before the days of Health and Safety, Workers Comp etc. Dad had some pretty gruesome tales of people losing their hands, because they'd take the machine guards off and so on.

Praying to the tech gods that every computer with a copy of that pic on it crashes and it's lost to the web forever
:p
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

You never know, perhaps that picture is just the bait that some gal grabs and runs with!?! Someone with a hankering for a shy bashful type with a big widebrim hat that freely shares his vaping gear! (grin)

Well lets say this, I have to wear fire ......ant uniforms, along with silver reflective coats and chaps. The real reason the uniform is fire ......ant, is how can something burn, thats soaking wet with sweat for 12 hrs. I haven't dried out.yet

I remember burn house trainings...IFSTA (international fire safety and training association) set the standard for training.... You aren't supposed to enter the burn house at temps above 750 degrees.... Did we listen? Ha! We would make entry with at the floor temps around 2000. Since our primary mission was crash rescue, we wore the silver "baked potato" suits. We would get so hot our sweat would steam up. We would end up with hand sized steam burns from the guy behind making "positive contact". It both sucked, and was fun at the same time :p

If I remember correctly (I never used volts mode :p) it is three quick clicks of the fire button... Don't remember if the atty should be on or off or if it matters

At times it.reminds me.of.shipboard fire fighting, all the heat, smoke and dirt you can choke on, but with a little better pay...and I do mean little
Did you know that all services now do their fire academy at the same place?
The Louise F. Garland fire academy in San Angelo, TX. :p
