Hi Nancy B:
I wanted to keep posting last night but I was hurting so badly I had to take one of the new meds my doc put me on (oxy w/o the Tylenol or any ibuprofen in it - just the codeine) after taking me off the Lorcet b/c it has 325mg of Tylenol. My head was pounding like I was about to get a migraine so I turned off all the lights on the side of the house I was on then turned on this beautiful lamp I received from the Himalayan Salt Shop (it's beautiful & the light is muted in a light yellowish color (it could be orange-ist color b/c I'm basically color blind to like colors). Anyhow, check out these beautiful lamps and other items. If you happen to figure out what the actually color of the glowing through the lamp, would you mind letting me know? It's bad enough I've lost so much sight (peripheral & central) but even worse when even with the severely limited to no vision on bad days is downright wrong on so many levels but the one thing that's even worse is the fact I can't tell what color my lamp's glow color is b/c of the color-blindness to like colors.
This lamp was a gift I received and I LOVE IT! If I had the money, I'd buy their salt-grinder (I've wanted a salt & pepper mill set for years but can't afford the $50+ cost of the nicer sets that last but this salt mill is beautiful & seems sturdy from what I read; plus, I use sea salt anyhow but I'd rather have the salt mill & a pepper mill) w/Himalayan Salt inside that's course & requires grinding in the mill; I want another lamp like the one I have now for the other side of the roll-top desk in my living room, and then add one of those bowls of fire in the middle! This is the 1st lamp I've found that doesn't hurt my eyes b/c the glow is soft enough for the sighted DH & daughter to get around, though DH said that a set would make it better for him to see and considering the glow doesn't hurt my eyes like regular lights/lamps & most especially overhead lights in our home & the fluorescent bulbs.... Ugh! But either way, this lamp has helped me so much and it was a thrill when it showed up on my doorstep. :'( Once I opened it & realized what it was, I sat down on the floor (like some idiot b/c I have such a difficult time getting off the floor) & squalled with tears like a child. I was in tears again when I put it on the roll-top desk (a gift from my MIL for my drip tip calligraphy pens, thick writing paper, blotter, & the wax with wick that I use when I send letters using my seal (aka chop). It's an antique Tibetan Lotus blossom on the bottom but the entire single piece is covered in vines with Lotus blossoms though none are as beautiful as the one on bottom that you press into the wax to create the seal. Of course it cost more to mail these b/c they have to be hand-stamped b/c they won't run through the machines without tearing the entire letter & envelop to crap b/c of the seal so I always write in the corner of the envelop, "Fragile - Hand-Stamp ONLY" so they don't mess them up.
They have something amazing on their site too. I'm sure there's a lot of people who entertain at their home or run a bar/pub where shots are poured for friends & customers; well, here's a new twist to an old tradition: Himalayan Salt-shaped Shot Glasses!
