One of our CCI puppies was a gal (Labrador) who would be used for breading CCI puppies, but still had to be trained to know her basics (50+ commands!).. her name was Stormy, we called her "Stormin' Norman" WOW, was she in a different category/breed than the Goldens! We often joked that we carried around a 2 x 4 to get her attention before issuing her any commands (grin). A 'bit' different temperament, and truly a challenge through her first 2 years!! haha but ya know what? She turned into an absolutely wonderfully well-trained dog that was a joy to have around (and breed). It's all in how much time you spend with them, what they learn and how they act in different situations! Tis worth the investment. grin Labs are just as friendly, just as loveable, but to get them focused on what you want of them, well, that's when you learn to conquer or fail... like Ceazar Milan, calm assertiveness with boundaries... (grin)

YEP! I am going to really have to work with Homer. I am convinced I was lied to about his age. I was told he was 7 weeks old (3 weeks ago) but there is no way he is 10 weeks old right now. 8 or 9, yes. But that means he was only 5 or 6 weeks old when I got him! I feel so bad. That is just too young to leave his mom. :( I know he will be okay, but it still makes me sad. He is supposed to be my husband's hunting partner, but my husband has decided he wants to go back to North Dakota to work so he is going to be learning basic commands and manners from me. I don't know the first thing about hunting!

That is too funny! They are so sneaky ;)
When Zeus was little (he loves loves loves spaghetti) I had some spaghetti cooling in a big container on the counter before putting in the fridge and I kept hearing thumps downstairs....so I went to investigate and he had knocked the spaghetti container on the floor and he was dang near inhaling the spaghetti! Lol He looked up at me with spaghetti sauce all over his white face :)
Another time I was washing dishes with spaghetti cooling next to me on the counter, and he jumped up and I caught the container of spaghetti before it fell....I told him he was such a weasel! Lol
Our Yellow Lab, Suzie, would grab any kind of bread right out of your hand. She was obsessed!! It was pretty funny. She got really good at knowing just when to strike, and after a couple of misfires she could avoid any skin, lol.

That looks like about the age that Tuxie was when she turned up in our carport! :thumb:

Now she's a big fat black pumpkin of a cat. :D

BUSTED!! Nothing wrong with PIF'n... Tootle-puffing on the other hand, I have no clue what tootle puffing is...

psst @74 deeds ... 1st - it takes a "real sweat woman to know a real sweat woman" me thinks.... 2nd - bof o usens (both of us) use ego twist bats and thus tootle away puffing on our tanks - nothing fancy about us, we're just enjoying where we're at on this vaping journey (grin). This was a new term I learned also through this 15 mil post celebration, ie, what those further along in their journey call us 'laggers' I guess. haha

You're right, teach him the basics first... then when he's older and is ready to learn more (be challenged), let hubby work with him while hunting and both will be happy (grin).

We had an orange tiger-striped we called Oatmeal/Oats for short. What a sweetie he was! That's when I learned all orange tigers are males, much like all calicos are females... don't know about other colors being so gender specific (?)

I wonder about the smoke-gray ones, the ones called "Blue" -- I've always admired those, but I really only want female cats; even fixed, male cats just have too strong an odor for me. Which really bums me out because I LOOOOOOOVE the ginger tabbies, they're adorable!

Females are also good, if they're strays and you don't know their exact age; they surely let you know when they've become sexually mature and can be spayed. Thank god when Tuxie had her first heat, it had been a couple weeks of cold wet weather so we'd kept her in, so she didn't get preggered before we knew something was going on. :D
