I understood that he received an unworking head cap and tried to fix it as he did not get hold of Jay. Maybe I got it wrong.
Jay stated that he is helping him.The person claimed that he took the head cap apart and screwed it up badly before sending it in.He recieved a loner head cap and made things sound worse than what they were(he admitted this too). He then refused to call and deal with the situation properly. Lets not be so quick as to blame Jay for this situation. It seems to me he is not alone in the blame here. Read the previous posts from this person in this forum. He destroyed his GLV and is getting it replaced for free. Thats bad service? I dont feel that way at all. I feel bad the guy has had a rough time, but I feel Jay is being more than fair with him.
I feel bad that this could be taking time away from Jay's efforts to get me my GLV2.
Does the loner headcap at least work to hold you over?
I have now understood that there were many GLV's with faulty resistors that they need to fix.
I don't know why they wouldn't just make an announcement here or at their homesite tho. However I'm not the only one having problems.
edit:
Too bad i don't have a digital camera but I tried to take pictures with my webcam.
I think you can see from these images that the head cap has been purposedly beaten. Of what purpose you can not tell.
Pics are fine, the plate is just cocked inside the cap. The PCB plate assembly comes out with a little effort by working it out from the brass button. It is a tight fit but it can be done. On the other side of the PCB a wire is soldered to the backside of the brass button. And of course inside the headcap is more wiring going to the switch and to the firing pin. This wire to the pin is the one I have had to resolder on all of my units. Before doing so I took it a step further by cutting a small groove in the bottom of the pin to insure a good soldering connection. None have failed me since doing this.
I'm guessing you don't have an extra set of batts. How old are the batts?
I think the problem is the connection from the pin to the carto. What type of carto setup are you useing? The pin is adjustable and can moved up or down. You adjust by useing a hex key wrench to move it. When re-assembling did you put the orange ball back in before putting the set screw back in?
