Synthnadz: Clearly your interest is to obtain a refund. Go for it, but do NOT put words in my mouth. I did not say they were "marginal". I said they were not mass produced such as the products coming out of China. They are new and may have some issues....which are being addressed by the manufacturer. If you do not wish to deal with the bugs in the original production, buy elsewhere. It is a pretty simple concept.

As to deleted threads, several vendors on this forum do exactly that. It is unfortunate but it is true. I agree with you, I do not buy from them. However, the point is valid, it speaks to the integrity of the manufacturer. Obviously your negative posts have cast doubt on the manufacturers integrity and I am only pointing out there are two sides to the story. Steve and Casey both attempted to work out the issues and you just dismissed their efforts and insisted on bashing the product.

It is apparent you don't want resolution, you want to gripe and complain. You want to discredit the product because YOU don't like it. Well, tough...others do and are not having the same issues you apparently do...sounds like USER error to me!

And as for the rest of your BS.....PFFFFT! And I am not being sarcastic!

I have no interest in a refund. What I want is pretty clear: A Prodigy with a reliable switch that doesn't lend iteself to premature failure. You know, probably just like what PS is working on for the V2. Your suggestion that I should for some reason be happy with the 'bugs' is outrageous. Sure, 'buying elsewhere' is always an option, but how will that within itself benefit both current and future Prodigy customers?

If I 'bashed the product' somewhere, please let me know. I was pretty deliberate about staying on-topic here, relaying my specific issues with detail. I definitely don't want to simply discredit the product, as I actually love the basic design and concept of the Prodigy. In short, with an improved switch I would be nothing but satisfied here. Again, I thought this was clear in my posts.

So your verdict is 'user error' despite the fact that a number of others have had to contend with failed switches on both the Prodigy and the Protege? I'd hate to have you on my R&D team. ;-)

Again, Steve and Casey: I apologize for the vented frustration on my end. I only hope that this sort of exchange can lead to better future experiences all around with your forthcoming products. I appreciate your efforts in working through these issues, and I am really looking forward to getting my Prodigy back this week.

All the best,

...D

The thousands that have been sold proteges/prodigy's/spare switches, combined, i dont' think their is really a huge underlying switch issue, but general failure rate that comes with any production of any product. Even if there were like 50 people with effed switches, that would only put the failure rate at 2.5% assuming there were 2000 units/switches sold, which is high, but not outrageous, especially on an the 1st design and production of 2 new products/form factors.

I have seen engineering projects with an expected failure rate of 75%, haha, which is rare, but there you go.

We should remember that one of the symptoms of smoking depervation is a short temper. Here I suspect most of us qualify as ex-smokers so we need to allow a little latitude.

One key to success is to have plenty of spare equipment on hand incase you lose your primary PV. I delayed my decission to quit smoking until I had just that, plenty of spare equipment.
