Not sure if there has been a thread on this yet but... if there has feel free to delete this one.

I'm debating ordering a back-up for my V1 as I of course love it and would freak if anything happened to it and I had no back-up of any kind.

That being said, I was going to get a Protege but am very interested in the new version that is being advertised on the website.

What are the new specs and are there pictures available? Is the new version actually available as it says on the PS website?

Thanks.

Brandon

It's still in development, so no pictures and details are sketchy. From what Steve has said in other threads, it will be a 5v only device and significantly smaller than the currant Prodigy. Slightly larger than the Protege.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Any timeline on product? I used to lurk these boards like mad but since getting my Prodigy have just been... well working and puffing away.

Also, since it says on the website *NEW VERSION* next to the Prodigy V1 are you actually going to put in a line for the new version when it comes out if you order or do you get the original model?

There's data scattered in different threads but it's my understanding that the SS adapters are only for the new one and will not fit the original Prodigy.

The new SS adaptors will fit the original prodigy. There would be some really ...... off people if they stopped making the aluminum adapters and the new SS ones didn't fit.

BTW ordered a 901 and 510 at the discounted price!

Don't misunderstand guys, we're still going to carry V1 accessories. We've just got a crapload of adapters left right now. Steve just wants to cut back to keeping 150-200 adapters on hand for the V1 once the V2 comes out. We're not completely abandoning the V1!!! Switches and adapters will still be around.

Yeah, I just posted that link so people would know that the V1 / V2 adapters will in fact NOT be compatible. I think everyone on this forum knows we will be taken care of. You and Steve have proven that many times over.

Oh damn...

I want to order the V2 Casey. I'm need a back up just for normal reasons. Ugh... I hate money. I have it, and I spend it.

Protege looks so lovely though.

Brandon

You should really get a Protege also. I did and couldn't be happier with it. What a nice compliment for the Prodigy... They took everything they learned from the Prodigy and made it tiny.... I call mine the "mini P"

Ok, question here:

I tried wading through some threads so can someone point me in the direction of a thread that reviews different atomizers on the Protege?

I'm thinking the 510 would be perfect but is it appropriate for dripping? Also, I have 30 801s so if the 801 works fine meh...

Just looking for opinions.

Brandon

Depends on what you want. I love the 510 on the Protege because it vapes strong at 3.7v. Carts with a good PTB mod work great. Dripping is also good at 2-3 drops at a time, instead of 3-4 on an 801. The 801 will give good flavor, decent but cooler vapor, and less throat hit than the 510.

If you're used to dripping the 801 on a standard battery and like it, you'll love the Protege because it stays close to the max voltage longer. If you're used to dripping the 801 on a 5v device, the Protege may disappoint you.

Yea, I'm thinking the 510 which makes it a much heftier investment as then I need to stock up on 510 atomizers.

I was considering making the purchase this Friday as I get paid but I haven't been to the tattoo shop in months so I might just cool my jets.

Thanks for the recommendation though.

Also yes, I drip exclusively which I worried about with the 510 but we can see if I can make it work.

I'm a bit disappointed by the current description of the V2. I love the way the Prodigy vapes at 3.7 volts, and the way the 18650 batteries last for more than 2 days. That was the original Prodigy concept and it was right on.

Now I hear that the V2 will be too small to take the 18650. Yes, I know, the Protege does 3.7; but with a much smaller battery.

I guess Steve has his reasons for giving up on the winning versatility of the V1, but the V2 is probably not for me.

While I understand the interest in the 18650, I can understand why so many PV makers are dropping it. You can make a PV almost half the size with a 3.7v option that will last a day. People measure their time in days. Changing a battery every day as apposed to every other day isn't as much of a hassle as lugging around something twice as heavy and big as it really needs to be. You can adjust to a 30 second morning ritual easy. That's why dealing with dual 3v batteries every eight hours or so has never been an issue for me. That being said, I've never found the Prodigy V1 to be insanely huge or cumbersome. It would be awesome to have a slimmer, smaller device that did the exact same thing though.

I'm really shocked they'd discontinue the V1.
I have one so not that big of a deal but, had I known, I would have ordered a second.

I like having tha ability to change voltages and run different batteries.

Before I got the 18650's I was out of town on a military project and all the 123's were dead. I just stopped into the first drug store and bought 6 cr123 camera bateries.
Problem solved.
You're not going to do that with the Protege 14500's or whatever it is they're going to run the V2 off of.

Along with the old adapters I think they should have an orig Prodigy sale. :)
Put all those parts together and give people a choice.

Prodigy V1 with selectable voltages, Protege @ 4.2-3.7 and the new and improved V2 Stainless at 5v..

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to order a new Prodigy but there's no way it'll replace the original.

Next!

I couldn't agree more. I do like the 18650 and will always like the V1 for that option. But I would really like to see the new V2 in a much slimmer version like the Protege. After I opened that package with the Protege I was amazed that they made the Prodigy so small. It really is a tiny version of the Prodigy.
