Question for Steve or Casey, or anyone at PS...I was on the PS website and I see a stainless steel switch for the Prodigy V2/2.1, but the Prodigy on sale is the V2. Is the current run of new V2 being produced with this new stainless version, or will I have to buy the V2 and then purchase the switch seperately? Will we have to wait for a V2.1? I am not satisfied with the performance of my current KR808 stuff purchased from another vendor, and when I go to that subsection there are too many fanboys there that I don't even want to bring it up...but I digress.

Anyways, I really like the look and pricepoint of the V2, and 5v vaping really appeals to me. So please tell me that the new run of V2s will have the new stainless steel switch, I don't want to deal with the older plastic switch.

thanks

If you order a V2 and it has the old style plastic button a free upgrade will be sent to you by signing up at the new puresmokers forum and typing your order number in the switch upgrade thread. The V2 is on pre-order now and as far as I know the new ones will come with the new switch.Hope this helped.

I ordered the V2 yesterday and here is what Casey told me. hope this helps.

The 510 V2's have been re-added to stock, so you can order it now. There is an estimated 2-3 week wait for shipping on all V2 units at this time as we are waiting for upgraded switches to come in. The switch issues have been resolved in all models. The V2.1 will have a stainless steel button/button housing on the switch, and an adapter made entirely of stainless steel. It will be a bit more expensive. The V2.1 won't be available for pre-order for another 2-3 weeks, and shipping will likely begin in 6 weeks or so. Updates are posted at twitter.com/puresmoker and pure-smokers.com.

Thanks,

Hey Sik,

V2's= No SS switch. It will have an upgraded switch with SS contact posts and the rubber o-ring, but the button itself will still be plastic. The function of both the V2 switch and the V2.1 will be almost exactly the same- slightly altered, but same idea. The V2.1 switch will fit the V2, so if you'd like to upgrade to that switch, you can order it separately. The V2.1 will come standard with the SS switch and new entirely SS adapter. Pre-order is still 2-3 weeks out, and shipping is likely about 6 weeks away.

I was wondering if there was any specifics given on how the V2.1 is upgraded in comparison to the V2. I am completely stuck in limbo. I know I want the V2 but still want to see whats new on the V2.1 before making the purchase.

From what I understand, the only differences are as follows:

V2 (as ordered today):
Button/switch: Black plastic button/housing, stainless steel contact posts inside the switch

Adapter: Stainless/brass
V2.1:
Button/switch: Stainless steel button/housing, stainless steel contact posts inside the switch

Adapter: All stainless, slightly modified form factor. (I believe the well will be more shallow.)

Will be more expensive because of the completely stainless button/housing and adapter.
But you can purchase the switch with the stainless steel button/housing separately for your V2.

So, as a current V2 owner, what I will most likely do is this:

Order the stainless button/housing in a few weeks.

If I also decide I really want one, I'll order the new all stainless adapter. But I'm perfectly happy with my current stainless/brass adapter right now.

Then I'll practically have a Prodigy V2.1. I'll just have bought the upgraded parts separately. And I will have had over two months of enjoying my V2 in the mean time.

Thanks for the info! wonder what the form factor will look like.

I don't believe any photos exist of the upcoming V2.1 adapter, seeing as how they don't exist yet. But Steve posted photos of the all stainless Protege 1.1 adapter here:

Protege V1.1 - First Look!!

It's just a guess. But I'm thinking the Prodigy V2.1 adapter would be similar.

Not to be too much of a contrarian here, but isn't it a little dicy to expect those of us who bought V2 Prodigies just a couple months ago to pay full price for these upgraded V2.1 components? It seems to me that there should at least be some kind of discount for loyal customers who adopted the device sight unseen. I fully intend to buy a SS adapter because I think the brass version is seriously lacking in reliability, but I also think it's a tad bit questionable that we've been used as beta testers.

This is in no way to slam or impugn Puresmoker. I think y'all are great. But I think this question has to be asked.

I agree totaly Surf if it wasnt for all of us testing and buying early and going through sending things back and spotty performance problems wouldnt have been corrected without our help. Just my 2 cents
